Mark Ashton Leaves The U's...
United have announced this morning the surprise news that CEO Mark Ashton has left the club.
In a statement this morning Chairman and owner Darryl Eales will now assume day to day executive control
of operations at the club.Eales has stated he now has more time on his hands
having relinquished other positions recently so the flatter structure will mean that United
will save on Ashton's rumoured six figure plus salary but could lose
his valuable experience and contacts on the football side of the business.
This news follows Michael O'Leary's recent decision to leave the board.
Could further restructuring occur in the coming weeks and is this move linked to Stewart Donald's
summer announcement that he was preparing to invest funds in the club? Not sure this investment
was formally completed.

Re: Mark Ashton Leaves The U's...
Interesting. I know that there was a lot of disquiet about Ashton's involvement with the club initially, but it seems to have done ok so far. So DE is running the club as a bit of a one-man band now I guess? Though presumably that Sky Sports presenter (Dave Jones?) is still on the scene too. Darryl seems a decent guy - I hope he's up to the job.

I'm just hoping there isn't an Eales Jr waiting in the wings...
