United head to Essex - the home of the white stiletto - on Sunday 8th November
for an Emirates FA Cup clash at Braintree Town with a 2pm kick off time
for television reasons although the match will not be covered live.
The BBC have a special FA Cup programme covering a selection of games
in real time in the early rounds of the competition.

United then return to Essex for a JPT area quarter final at Dagenham
just three day later. This fixture has been moved back 24 hrs
in view of the Braintree game.

Dagenham's London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Stadium will again be the venue
just over a week later as the Daggers and the U's go head to head in
League Two.

The U's are set to sign former West Brom and Shrewsbury defender and free agent Cameron Gayle, 22 on a short term deal.
With Chey Dunkley suspended for Braintree and Jake Wright suffering from a back problem United were looking short
defensively as they travel to North Essex on Sunday.Gayle has been training with the U's for over a month
and is well know to Michael Appleton.

Braintree are without midfielder Simeon Akinola who damaged his hamstring in the win over Macclesfield Town last Saturday.

On loan Colchester United midfielder Sammie Szmodics in unlikely to be given permission to play.

how much can you get wrong in one paragraph?

"Other standout first-round FA Cup ties

By Luke Edwards

Braintree Town vs Oxford United Sunday November 8th 2pm

Braintree Town are a small club, from an unglamorous Essex town, playing against one of the fallen giants of English football. Oxford reached the FA Cup Final in 1984 and won the League Cup two years later. They are back in the league after a short spell in the Conference and are second in League Two, but this tie could reopen old wounds."

I'm sure we'd remember appearing in the FA Cup final, I'm don't think we are normally considered 'a fallen giant', and how can playing an opponent for the first time "reopen old wounds"?

Unbelievable! Mind you - Watford/Oxford sound similar. That season, the Brock-back-pass resurrected Everton's season via the League Cup and helped propel them to the FA Cup final and victory. 'A fallen giant' is, however, beyond my creativity to explain.
