So when was it that we last had a decent, consistent penalty taker?

Andy Crosby.

Or possibly Paul Moody.

Rob Duffy, surely. He was sod all use apart from that, but he could take a penalty.

Pick that one out!

If Kemar is playing, then he'll take them from now on so shouldn't be an issue. My second choice would be Sercombe.

Just seen Saturday's penalty - not great was it? Worth bearing in mind that that's the same ground (and the same end) where Hylton scored his penanka penalty last season. Maybe he had that lurking in his mind? I'm more interested to know what it was given for. What did that nasty Northampton player do to Callum??

Macdonald's missed penalty against Yeovil was actually a decent effort that was very well saved, but I guess while he's not looking like scoring in open play he's unlikely to get another chance from the spot soon.

Kairdiff Exile clearly has the answer to the question though - Rob 'goal machine' Duffy was lethal from 12 yards.

Jason Taylor pushed the palm of his hand into O'Dowda's face.

He wasn't that reliable was he? I certainly remember him missing one in the League Cup semi-final against Luton. He was good at 'winning' penalties though.

I thought he was reliable - it's just that was a big one to miss, so probably sticks in the mind. From memory, that was the second penalty of the game. He scored the first but made the mistake of putting the second in exactly the same place.

Just found this link. Two former Oxford players in the top 16 since the Prem started.

What ever happened to power and placement? Why are so many penalty-takers now thinking they can engage in psychological contests with keepers. Just hit the bloody thing.

Of course psychology comes into it. I present Exhibit A.

The other factor is confidence, and if you keep missing penalties then it's time to stop taking them. And pressure. Would you want Hylton to be taking a crucial pen in a Wembley play-off final?
