Good draw methinks. Decent chance of getting to third round.

Agreed - I wanted a home tie and feel it's a great chance to progress.

We defeated Tranmere in the FA Cup at the Manor Ground in January 1994

Looking through the line=up of that game makes me feel a little depressed. Only one division higher than we are now, but what players... Matty Elliott, Joey, John Byrne, etc. Those were the days!

Ah but we were only on loan to the second division.

Didn't we get someone decent in the next round as well? We were unlucky to go down that season.

Leeds. Who we beat in a replay at Elland Road. And then Chelsea at home in the next round when Fordy missed a late penalty which would have earned another nice replay.

Those were indeed the days.

We played Tranmere in the League, the two-legged League Cup and FA Cup all in the same season. P5 W2 D1 L2 F5 A8

Oh god, I remember that Chelsea game. Depressing because the club had just sold Magilton, the crowd was awash with rumours that he was sold so that we deliberately would get relegated to avoid having to comply with Taylor report ground changes, Chelsea fans in the London Road stand, and that horrible horrible Fordy penalty miss.

I remember as a teen, shortly after that game, getting laughed out of town for announcing to a mate that Fordy's was "...the best penalty I had ever seen. Except that it missed".

Probably a fair reaction on his part, but I stick by that assessment to this day...

Memories of 1999, and another Chelsea penalty incident that still haunts me.

i) If only Elliott Jackson had had the courage of his convictions and dived properly he would have saved the damn penalty
ii) 3ft 2in Le Saux mocking 8ft 3in Francis - and you wonder why people hate Chelsea
iii) Also notice Michael Duberry in there celebrating the penalty - perhaps he should spend his next OM article apologising for that night rather than writing about something that no-one in Oxford cares a monkey about!
