Press Conference...
Press Conference...
...called for 11am this morning to 'address management issues'.
Is Wilder leaving or does he have a new contract?!
Gentleman, place your bets!!

Re: Press Conference...
What's the sound I can hear in the distance? is it the faint hum of helicopter blades as Les Ferdinand prepares to land somewhere is east Oxfordshire...?
Re: Press Conference...
This to me says 'staying'.
Only thing that says going, is calling Marsh back so that he hears it first hand.

Re: Press Conference...
Do you really call a press conference to sack a manager?

Re: Press Conference...
In all seriousness, my guess is the same as Mooro's - IL will publicly back his man, renew his contract, make clear his expectation and say how he will be backing Wilder (ie, which players will be released and what resources are available to replace them).
If so, it's not what I would have done - but the question marks have been removed, and we should get behind the most successful manager the club has had for 15|| years. If we get to Christmas and are well off the pace (again), then questions should properly be asked - but until then, we give him our backing.

Unfortunately I think also that CW will be staying. I suspect that ST sales will be down and just hope that the general malaise around the club can somehow be changed round.
Waiting to see how we are doing at Christmas is not where we should be. I seem to recall people saying that last year! That is why him staying is not a good thing. It is a bit about deja vu (last season some were saying CW had taken us as far as he could. People were saying 'give him to Christmas'. My view is thta supporters were willing to give him one more season. IL sais it was Play offs or else .......

Hmmm. Not sure. I get the feeling that there is a lot which has been going on behind closed doors. Could be that Wilder knows he's gone already and the caretaker, whoever they may be, wants to chuck the kids in for the last game."Mooro" wrote:This to me says 'staying'.

Another hint of things happening is Batt's tweet from a couple of days back which hinted that he's off to pastures new.
Re: Press Conference...
He's out of contract (I think) so the conference could be to say the contract will not be renewed and thank him for all he's done for the club."JoeyBeauchamp" wrote:Do you really call a press conference to sack a manager?

Re: Press Conference...
Conspiracy theory - Boris has called the media and told them there's a press conference in order to drive more traffic to OUFC-related websites like RageOnline and increase the number of potential donors to the web server move fund...

Wilder's at the PC. Can't believe he would be if they were letting him go, amicably or not

Oh god, bloody Dougie is on Radio Oxford. Time for some expert analysis...
Can't see Wilder being sacked if he's at the conference.
