This has just appeared on the City forum (not sure if we've seen them before as I haven't got time to check)

It's not only the season that is about to end ...

"As of December 31, 2013, we have insufficient cash to operate our business at the current level for the next twelve months and insufficient cash to achieve our business goals. The success of our business plan beyond the next 12 months is contingent upon us obtaining additional financing."

The "officer compensation" looks a little on the high side!

No doubt the local media will want to probe and question? Or alternatively, they could choose to peddle more TAG shite.

Apparently City are going to be placed in the North again whilst newcomers Lowestoft will be promoted to the South despite being north of existing 'northern' clubs like City, Gloucester City, Brackley, Worcester City, Leamington and even Solihull! How do they come up with that?!?!

If I recall correctly, City lobbied to stay in North last year. Isn't it generally accepted that South is stronger, and so clubs have a better chance of survival/promotion in North? So maybe clubs currently in North object to any plans to move them! Besides, most clubs in North are an easier trip from Oxford than Lowestoft!

While the pyramid remains as it is, there will always be a southern bias (and drift) to where the borders lie. Thus teams that appear to have nothing to do with the north will continue to be placed there.
I think the Conference board try to keep clubs in the same division where possible, so are more likely to place newly arrived sides across the border than current ones, and will also use transport links, hence Lowestoft being placed south.
City I suspect will just be happy to be in either division rather than step 3,

Apparently they are waiting to be allocated before deciding on a new boss, as a number of candidates are from one direction or the other, so will have better ties with players in the north or south regions.

TAG has posted the latest accounts for OCFC Inc : http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/ ... inbody.htm

I've had a quick skim, and it's same old, same old. Losing money hand over fist but still paying himself a huge salary and taking money out of the company by way of consultancy fees via GEC. Accrued debt is now over $8.8m.

Sleep walking to disaster I'd say. What in tarnation are the good people at City up to? This man is the most obvious asset stripper since Maxwell.

It would never happen on Oxvox's watch!

"[...] Wall Street businessman Thomas Anthony Guerriero, above, has bought futsal franchises in South Florida and Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for an undisclosed amount.

They will use the Oxford City name and could link up with the Oxford City futsal team in the UK.

Mr Guerriero, who also owns the Oxford City football club and Hoops basketball team, said it could boost all three Oxford-based clubs’ finances.

He said: “It’s an avenue to expand the Oxford City brand globally and could have huge implications. They play in front of crowds of between 10,000 and 12,000 in the US. It will get us in a position where brand awareness goes around the world and any time there are jerseys sold and sponsorship money coming in, then it will benefit Oxford City.”

The clubs will play in the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL), the biggest professional indoor football league in North America.

They will be called Oxford City South Florida and Oxford City Sioux Falls, with players being traded between the United States and England.[...]"

***

I cannot believe the Oxford Mail has printed this.

30 seconds of googling has revealed that the MASL makeup for the 2014-15 season has recently been announced. There are 24 teams, none of them called 'Oxford City' and none of them even based in either South Florida or South Dakota.

And, according to Wiki, the average attendance in the MASL has varied between 656 and 1,349 over the last six years. Nowhere near the 10,000 to 12,000 claimed in the article

Incredibly poor of the Mail to print the story without checking such basic facts. And there's no 'comment' facility under the story - funny that.
