I don't think many of us would have answered those questions with either a couple weeks or Gary Waddock!
Indeed,

I wonder whether Appleton will reach the heady heights of 79th on the list before he leaves......?

According to Wiki while the appointment of Louis van Gaal was announced before that of Appleton, his contract didn't start until 14/7, 10 days after Appleton had started, so they have MA at 89th.

After MAckay's bid imploded, Palace have gone for a fairly uninspiring but safe option:

Wow, never saw this one coming - wonder how much money Mr Hockaday has made out of this little jaunt...

I understand van Gaal is aware of how much anguish this confusion has caused and is doing his best to make it a moot point :D

Nothing for ages (ignoring Leeds) then three come along together in the space of a few hours...

Kavanagh leaves Carlisle after the 5-0 defeat on Saturday http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29012752

closely followed by Joe Dunne at Colchester http://www.cu-fc.com/news/article/01091 ... 89404.aspx?

85th and closing in on Waddock's leaving spot of 79th (Dunne was 25th, 23 days short of 2 years in the job; Kav 56t, 8 days short of 1 year)

(I wonder what Appleton's highest position has been on the list?)

and potentially one out http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29045406 as Gary Johnson demands talks with the chairman at Yeovil

Nothing more official yet, but seems inevitable (and people call us a laughing stock!)

Was wondering who would take the job if/when he did to - but thinking about it, might not be a bad idea for Coyle, try to get a short term reaction on the pitch to show he's 'stil got it' after being out of the game for a while, then quit/get fired after a couple of months, with a bit of cash in the bank and back in the mind of those looking to fill proper jobs
Surely McDermott wouldnt want to go from one nutjob to another, and Rowett would be daft to risk it, given the two clubs may well be in the same division next season as it is!!

Just glanced at the odds for taking over the two vacant positions and who is third favourite behind Neil Redfearn and Steve Clarke for the Leeds job......

........only our favourite Italian chappie, Paolo di Canio - now wouldn't that be the perfect match for the owner??????
