BBC Reports that John Still is to leave Daggers to become Luton manager, I think that would make Wilder the 8th longest serving manager in the Football League, and the 4th longest serving outside the Premier League.

John Still confirmed as new Luton manager - Wilder is now 8th longest serving, but also just 25/1 for the Slumdon job...!

Keith Curle odds-on favourite for the Coventry job,
Tony Philliskirk still favourite for Oldham, from Sammy Lee, Phil Brown and Iain Dowie
Paul Tisdale top of list for Slumdon, from Hasselbaink, Newell or a return for Paulo.

But, beware, Steve McLaren is back on the available list!!

Gary Simpson has taken over the manager position at Lincoln meaning both ex-Holdsworth clubs have moved on very quickly..his first managers role since leaving Macclesfield just under a year ago.

No major movers in the odds for the other vacancies, although all bookies have Wilder at 20-25/1 for the Slumdon job - then again they have Ossie Ardiles at 10/1 so who knows?

Slumdon job does seem to be throwing a lot of names up in the air - first Buckle, then Di Canio coming back, then Tisdale, then Hoddle, then Barker/Coppell, and now it seem Kevin Mcdonald is all set to come in. Other names riding high in the odds include Ardiles, Hasselbaink, Ian Wright and John Gregory! Eventually one of these names will be right, but the type of names being mentioned do smack of a particular excess of guesswork on all sides.

Elsewhere, things are a bit more tame, Keith Curle or Lee CArsley at coventry, Philliskirk, Lee, Dowie or Scholes at Oldham, Phil Brown for either.

Hearts have removed another manager, John McGlynn, with two of the regular candidates for moving down here, Peter Houston &amp Steve Pressley, right at the top of the list of favourites to take over.

Well I did say one of them would be right eventually, so

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21619627

With no actual management experience (beyond a couple of caretaker jaunts) then I guess no-one really knows how he is going to get on......but buoyed on by some positive comments from Villa message boards, the locals seem fairly content with the appointment.
For our part, there were plenty of names being banded around that would have been disasters for them, but seems they've been avoided for now...

Anyway, now they've got a chairman called Jed and Old Macdonald as manager, it's full speed ahead on the bumpkin-ometer!!

The Villa fans certainly seem to think that Kevin MacDonald is a good choice for manager. What would concern me is the length of time he has been an assistant/coach and not had a sniff of a &quotproper&quot managerial job. Is he another Brian Kidd?

I also like how he's flagged as being part of Liverpool's double winning team. He started ten games that season, so it's the same as saying Steve Wood was part of our 95/96 promotion side - technically correct, but not the full story.

Interesting to note the other person in the last two for the Slumdon job:
http://www.gazetteandherald.co.uk/sport/10263011._/

Would have been far more in keeping with the madness that is the County Ground at the moment, but the right decision was probably made by all concerned..

Elsewhere, Wayne Burnett has been appointed until the summer at Dagenham,
Tony Philiskirk is still in situ at Oldham, and leads the list at the bookies
Lee Carsley is in charge at Cov for now, but they have other things to think about (transfer embargo, stadium etc) before being able to appoint a permanent boss
Guy Whittingham is now 69th longest serving boss of the 92 clubs at Portsmouth although still technically only a caretaker

Interestingly, rumours from that part of the world backed &amp/or fed by Skybet have Westley lined up to come in this week - fan base typically split about it

Update on Cov, shortlist of four apparently in place, which Carsley denies being on (with some relief in his voice). Curle and Brown still high in the odds, so probably feature, but Tim Sherwood has now appeared on the horizon too. Only other names ahead of the pack are Pressley and Paulo Souza.

Latest from their message boards is that a new man is due to be announced Monday morning - with Nigel Worthington's name very much doing the rounds, although Steve Mclaren is apparently a local lad so a few are getting their umbrellas ready....

Worthington has indeed been appointed the new York City manager.

I could never envisage Westley and York City together for some reason.

Amazingly rapid appointment of Nigel Worthington, whose name (from memory) hasn't been mentioned in this thread, in connection with any vacancy. The club must have lined him up beforehand as a possible replacement for Gary Mills.

I'm a Us' supporter above all (Headington resident 1975-2001), but living in York for the past 11 years now, I really don't want to see the local club drop out of the league again after a single season. Mills did a fabulous job to get them promoted from the Conference after 8 years, and only 10 months ago was being feted as a hero in the city after two Wembley victories on successive weekends. Tough for him, and he surely won't be out of a job for long.

Worthington's appointment seems to be being welcomed by callers to Radio York this morning and in comments here:

Next fixture is away to Wimbledon on Sat - obviously crucial for both teams.

Three of the names are said to be: Curle, Dickov and Eric Black, Carsley not thought not to be on the list. Curle and Dickov both said to have been at recent games, while Black has been there before, still lives locally and would be a popular choice among the fanbase.
Tim Sherwood and Phil Brown still high up at the Bookies, but no indications of any definite links.

No real change in position at Oldham and I get the sense that might now be the case until the end of the season, as it they were going to replace Philiskirk I would have thought they'd have done so by now (So expect an announcement tomorrow no doubt)

AFC Wimbledon vs York City this Saturday.

A huge game for both clubs I think Wimbledon beat York earlier this season although
it might have been a cup game?

Update on Cov, shortlist of four apparently in place,

Three of the names are said to be: Curle, Dickov and Eric Black, with all having been seen at recent games, while the fourth name has been generally rumoured to be Tim Sherwood, as he too was seen at the game at the weekend, although some have suggested this was due to a Legends game being played....

Seems the fanbase are definitely looking at a return for Black who was felt hard done by when ousted by previous owners for Peter Reid. Appears that any of the other three will not have the fans worshipping the current owners wisdom.

Was about to post this, but just checked the bookies odds one more time, to see that briefly ex-player and in-work Steven Pressley has jumped to the top of the pile, from Curle and then Black, so could he be the mystery fourth name on the list........??
