Terry Butcher, manager at Inverness Caladonian Thistle who are currently 2nd in the SPL which would qualify for a Champions League qualifying place, has for some reason turned down the chance to move to Barnsley, bottom of the Championship.....second manager to turn them down after Sean O'Driscoll.
Meanwhile Blackburn have made their first move, asking for permission to speak to Michael Appleton, only recently appointed the new man at Blackpool....who have unsurprisingly refused!

Indeed, this one seems all set to happen, though, as usual with Blackburn, makes little sense (Berg sacked for winning 1 in 10, Appleton currently on 2 from 12, while current caretaker has won last three ), but appleton didnt take training, &amp his #2 has also gone for talks too. Major boardroom issues going on, apparently old Shabby knew nothing of this until five minutes before it was announced.

Current favourites for vacancies: Barnsley - Craig Hignett, Micky Mellon, D flitcroft (caretaker), REdfearn, MEgson
Blackpool (if Appleton goes): O'Driscoll, Parkinson, Steve Thompson,
Doncaster : Robins, Snodin, Dickov, Lomas

Jon,

Isn't Robins doing a pretty good job at Covenrtry? I can't see him wanting to move to Doncaster?

But perhaps a move to Doncaster would be preferable to a move here ...

Just going on what the bookies are saying...

Appleton expected to be in position, if not in charge, by tonights game against Deanos Wolves.
The speed at which this is going, makes you wonder what he is trying to get away from at Blackpool, because you cannot imagine many people (Paul Ince aside maybe) so willing to jump into the chaos that is Blackburn at the moment.

Blackpool seem keen on Parkinson, which MAY just distract him and the squad from tomorrows game.....??

Appleton confirmed at 6pm Friday....

PArkinson turned down approach from Blackpool, though whether it affected yesterday is anyone's guess - probably not..

Derek McInnes sacked at Bristol City, as they hit the bottom of the Championship, while Barnsley, the team they replaced have confirmed caretaker David Flitcroft as their new boss......

All happening again,
Bristol City take just two days to appoint Sean O'Driscoll, who was out of a job for just three weeks,
while Blackpool have been given permission to talk to Peter Houston, currently manager at Dundee Utd.

FAves at Bookies (SkyBet, BetVictor, Stan James) for Doncaster role:
Glynn Snodin, Bryan Flynn, Steve Lomas, Nick Barmby, Paul Dickov

With Bryan Flynn taking the helm officially at Doncaster, the vacancy board is clear proof that Michael Appleton is indeed irreplaceable as a manager.........

....and the madness just keeps on coming.....

Mauricio Pochettino, who HAS a decent reputation in La Liga apparently, has replaced Nigel Adkins at Southampton, despite the latter achieving two successive promotions, and only 2 defeats in the last twelve games....!!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21079956

Could quite simply have taken them from a steady path away from danger, right back into the relegation mix big-time. Good news for 'Arry, Lambert, etc...though probably bad news for any Championship manager currently clinging on to his job whose owner reckons he can attract Adkins their way....imagine Blackpool have been on the phone already

Adkins sacking genuinely disgusts me, the guy has taken them so far forward, and they're having a good season to date, and they dump the manager. An arrogant, short-sighted and plain stupid decision.

The Adkins decision is absolutely ridiculous.

Goodness the guy has won 2 promotions and has done a really good job this season after a terrible start (getting a 2-2 draw at Chelsea was not a bad result).

Over the past couple of seasons managers seem to be sacked when doing well as opposed to being near the bottom.

Sadly I think it makes more sense to say as well as rather than as oppesed to.

However loyalty is very much two-way, and I think a manager leaving one club for another, and then that club for another 8 weeks later doesn't help at all.

The Saints board obviously think 15th in the PL isnÔÇÖt good enough, theyÔÇÖre aiming for Europe! Good luck with that!!

Wonder if there'll be a flurry of sackings in the Championship now as chairmen jostle to get Adkins? Can't imagine he'll be out of work for long.
