Not sure that's quite what he said! Anyway, he's a PR guy, there's bound to be a little, ahem, elaboration.
If I were a Sunderland fan I'd be pretty happy with that interview though (apart from the bits where he refers to OUFC as 'us'!). He's clearly knowledgeable about L1 and the situation SAFC find themselves in. Whether he and SD are out of their depth in terms of dealing with it remains to be seen. Good luck to them though. They
saw there was no future for them in terms of ownership at OUFC but want to be players within the game. It's probable better all round not to own the club they support - they can let their heads rule their hearts a bit more now...

I have to say that within the big-headed parameters of that sort of person he comes over well in that interview. Seems pretty straightforward and pragmatic.

Is Charlie M the guy who set up that paper only racing newspaper, just at the time the internet was taking off?
He does make some outlandish claims in that article, as I've never heard of him being involved with the club in the ways he suggests, although it is possible he worked under the radar for all those years I suppose. It's interesting he says he and Stewart have left the club in league 1, when really the lenegans left the club in league 2 - which was also where they bought the club.
Good luck to them though, Sunderland is a very different beast to the likes of Eastleigh and Oxford - they'll have their work cut out.

Good for him! It wasn't long ago that I saw a article about how he was struggling to find a club

Torquay have started a clear out after relegation to National League South and transfer listed Ryan Clarke and Jon Paul Pitman but have actually offered new deals to Sean McGinty and Liam Davis although it's hard to see how they'll finance a fulltime squad at that level
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43950351
McGinty turned down his offer and has signed for Partick Thistle, recently relegated from the SPL. Presumably it'll be a bit easier for him at that level!
