And then it got a bit better. Wrexham have been bought by their Supporters Trust.

Great news - but presumably the ground is not part of the deal?

A bit off the mark there, though I resisted the temptation at the time to point it out. Anyway, things have moved on and now the local Heddlu are investigating threats from alleged WFC supporters.

It looks to me as if Luton have signed pretty much NO ONE in the close season.

Have they run out of money?

Clearly all is not well there. Tonight's friendly with Colwyn Bay has been cancelled due to &quotinternal issues at the Racecourse&quot, whatever they may be!!

Two friendly games have been called off and the players are refusing to train on account of the fact that the money has run out (including paying their wages).

Now Brian Lee is poised to stick the last knife in - http://www.footballconference.co.uk/new ... ws_id=5115

I'm quite sad about this, but it could be worse as it could have been Us not so long ago. FFS, Wrexham have less debt that we do and in was only the end of last season when thousands of home fans turned up for the semi-final play-off against Luton

Very sad how Wrexham have been criminally mismanaged.

Would I be right in saying that if there were no professional sports clubs in tenancy at the Racecourse Ground, the covenant on it becomes void, meaning it can be sold for development? If so it would go a long way to explaining recent events in Wrexham...

Very sad for the supporters.

Both Wrexham and Rushden going in a few months of each other, both havign recently been in the Play Offs?

I suspect that the players will be pretty worried as well. Some may find it very difficult to find new clubs due to the timing if Wrexham do go under.

I see Wrexham pulled the plug on Crusaders RL as well which upset players who had just moved on a two year contract

The deal has finally been done. Wrexham FC are now officially owned by the fans they still have left after years in the Conference wilderness.

Let's hope they can keep going until the end of the season and get promotion so that they can keep Luton where they belong. I'm never convinced by fans collectives owning a club - I point you to Stockport as a classic example, currently in the BSP relegation zone.

That said, very good luck to them - I love the principle but am not convinced by its long term viability.

The Stockport Trust was left a real mess by the previous owner, who also metaphorically wrung their neck over the stadium ownership and rights.

The key to fans groups making a success of their club is two fold. First get professionals in to do jobs that the fans groups don't have the skills to do, rather than trying to muddle through, second, to agree to only operate within their means, even if that means relegation, it is better than liquidation.

Indeed, and don’t forget what happened to Rushden and Diamonds. Exeter City is probably the only half-decent example right now. Wimbledon also, but that’s different as they didn’t so much take over a club but started all over again with a new one.

Notions of fans ownership are all very well, but I notice that at Wrexham the hard realities are already coming home – like every manager will try to get as money as he can!

Edited after the FA Cup draw

So far so good
