1) Spent too much money
2) Achieved nothing

Yep, that's the main criteria covered. :P

That game this afternoon made me dislike Portugal even more.

Brazil weren't much better, either. I think Brazil are the new Luton - all gravy and no dinner.

Bah.

If you like you can share my utter contempt for anything Spanish after their traffic police robbed me, quite literally, of 110 euros about four years ago. Once you can stop yourself laughing hysterically at the irony of it I suppose!

How long 'til German fans feel it's okay to turn up in SS Officer uniforms?
No idea - it just depends on how many individuals have no shame in their nation’s quite recent history, though it would be fab if one or two fans (or more) did though shortly before kick off on Sunday afternoon..

Was that really 4 yrs ago. I remember you telling me about it not long after it happened. I know they are not all as honest as your goodself but it's hardly surprising that not everyone likes the police.

It irks me too. However, given that the logical answer to your second question is &quotabout eight hundred years&quot I'll let you fret about that part! :P
I expect most fans who dress up as a crusader are doing it because of the traditional image of St George, rather than any thought about it representing the crusades.

I don't remember any complaints about Mexican fans dressing up as Incas / Aztecs.
If some get themselves a bit worked up about fans wearing crusader gear, then they must get in right state every time they see an England shirt... as it does have the arms of the great crusader, Richard I, prominently displayed.

Well, we played Northern Ireland a few years ago, so why not?
We've also played Bulgaria, among others (see my forthcoming book Oxford United: Miscellany for further details  )
We will never play them in a proper match. Unless we declare UDI ....

What a laughable post. Are you not comfortable with being English because of a bit of fancy dress?

I dunno. I'm not English. Just returned from a trip abroad and used my Norwegian passport to pass through customs.... it's nice to have a choice of which passport to travel on! -)

Norway is like the house on an estate that won the lottery. When everyone was putting together &quotNeighbourhood Watch&quot (The EU), Norway discovered loads of oil and currently has the 2nd highest GDP per capita in the World and is the 5th largest exporter of oil in the World. So instead of joining Neighbourhood Watch, it built massive fuck-off anti-theft devices and CCTV so it didn't have to bother going to meetings and bearing the cost of covering everyone else's security. Why share the money with some country miles and miles away when you can keep it all for yourself and build roads through mountains etc etc...?

Screw you, World! (Add maniacal laughter here)

Not a performance to be proud of but it was 2-2 for a few seconds - and had the officials not been completely fucking blind that may have changed things later in the game.

Hardly 1966 and that half-dodgy goal from Hurst as the ref and lino had only to look up at the giant screens in the stadium to see they had just denied England a goal that may well have changed the course of the game.

I watched the match on a very big screen in Swansea but left when we went 1-4 down and a group of about twenty very stupid Germans tourists (with just two German flags) started taunting the three thousand or so Welsh people in attendance. I was not tempted to join in (much) with what happened next, but hey, they started it so I hope they appreciate our NHS care tonight.

Is there anyone in world football more obnoxious that Franz Beckenbauer? Just to remind you, Franz, your win as a manager came through badgering a ref to give a soft yellow to the tournament's best player, and then decapitating a goalkeeper.

Joachim Loew has about 200,000 times more class.

As for the result yesterday, I imagine Capello will have the Liverpool job by the end of the week.
