The W.I.L.D.ers League

Post by Boogie »

With apologies to the Dreamers League, thought it might be fun for us on here to predict where all the teams in Div IV will finish at the end of next season.

Put them in order:

Accrington
Aldershot
Barnet
Bury
Burton
Bradford
Cheltenham
Chesterfield
Crewe
Gillingham
Hereford
Lincoln
Macclesfield
Morecambe
Northampton
Oxford
Port Vale
Rotherham
Shrewsbury
Southend
Stevenage
Stockport
Torquay
Wycombe

5 points for right position
2 points if promotion, play-off qualification or relegation correctly predicted
10 bonus points for correctly predicting champions or bottom club
-1 point for having a team in the wrong half of the table

Will do league updates infreequently during the season.

Enter or edit up to day before first matches of the season. No entries or edits after season kicks-off!

In the unlikely event that there are two identical entries the tie-break is the team staying in the FA Cup the longest. No duplication of previous entry on this one until we at least get 24 entries please!

What's the deadline for final entries?

I might just wait until the last week of the season before submitting mine

Day before kick off as my first post on this thread says!

Nothing to stop you putting up your provisional entry up now and editing up to then.

Anyone editing after the season kicks off will be disqualified!

OK. On the back of the Cole signing I now think we will finish above Lincoln and Port Vale.

Anyone else want to have a go?

What does &quotstaying in the FA Cup longest&quot mean? The pedants on here will need to know! Is going out on penalties in the 3rd round better than being beaten in extra time in a 3rd round replay? What happens if weather causes a delay and one team hasn't played it's 2nd round game when all the other survivors get beaten in the 3rd round: will the team in the 2nd round have stayed in &quotthe longest&quot?

You may scoff now but if it happens you'll be sorry ...!

How about &quotwho is going to win the FA Cup?&quot.

There is no mention of it being restricted to L2 clubs.

OK for the pedants:

Longest means same round but latest date/time still playing.

Teams selected must be fourth tier clubs until the 25th entrant who along with any other later entrants have to then choose a unique non-league club.

This optimism is worrying. I fell the same way too. Where's the Ancient one when you need him to bring you back down to earth?

As doomed as England and Italy?
