And the last player we signed on a 3 year deal? Step forward E. Hutchinson (-5).

Cynicism aside, this is an encouraging signing and he doesn't strike me as the type of player that would let a 3 year contract lower his standards.

I'm sure there wouldn't be an announcement like this without a signed pre-nup agreement.

So in what circumstances can any party pull out of this (eg. Shrews get better offer, JC gets promised a free seaside donkey if he moves to the Riviera, we run out of money, JC gets serious injury, etc) - can anyone just say they've changed their mind, or is whatever is likely to have been signed fully binding??

He does sound to have more moral fibre than Mr Green, but it would still be good to be aware if it is not absolutely definate....

So, who next for the Kelvinator

They're not happy on the Shrewsbury fans forum and who can blame them!

There are some slightly worrrying posts half way down the second page of that thread, a couple of Shrews fans saying that Simmo mentioned in his post match interview on Saturday that Constable was still a Shrews player and should keep his mouth shut. Hopefully this is just nonsense, relating to the fact that he will not officially join us at the end of the season, rather than something more sinister.

Does anyone know any more about this? Kelvin may have a difficult question to answer this evening after all!

Isn't it more likely to do with the fact that you can't do deals outside the transfer window?

The original report on the BBC site announcing the deal said:

&quotConstable will sign a three-year deal at the end of the season, when he will join the U's for an undisclosed fee.&quot

If you re-read the official OUFC site story it also says pretty much the same. Although both Constable and Thomas are quoted as referring to a &quotsigning&quot.

Either OUFC have jumped the gun and talked of a signing and agreement from Shrewsbury before the deal was fully agreed or Shrewsbury have had second thoughts. If it's the latter it could be because another club have come in with a better offer and this is a negotiating ploy to up the transfer fee.

Looks as if the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing at Shrewsbury.
