The Wages Cap is Dead

Post by Mally »

Story on the Oxford Mail site.

All very sensible except for Mick Brown's attributed comments:
I saw the Deloitte Touche report recently that 40 clubs - Oxford United of course being one of them - have gone into administration since Aldershot did in 1992. That is quite some number.
When did Oxford United go into administration? We had a CVA but never went into administration.

Are you sure we didn't go into administration Mark? It would be unusual to have a cva without being in administration.

I would hope that if our Club Sec said it, as well as being listed in a DT publication, then it would be correct.

Apparently we also won a major trophy in the 80's and played in the top division...

I remember us also taking on the giants of Europe, when we qualified for that competition too. Oh, hang on... bloody Scousers.

Let's see if we can name them all? Nothing else of any consequence to entertain us......

I will get the ball rolling with
1) Aldershot
2)

I read that and thought exactly the same. We didn't go in to administration.

Wrong. It is NOT unusual to have a CVA without an administration. Particularly for smaller compnaies.

Well I've never come across one in 22 years, but then again I rarely have dealings with dodgy companies who can't pay their bills  so if you say it's so, I'm happy to accept it.

What Mick Brown probably meant was that the club was subject
to a formal insolvency procedure back in 1999.
