Wilder may be right in what he says, but I would be happier if he hadn't said it. I think many fans believe that paying the money entitles them to an opinion, and I believe there is some confusion here: if the issue is just pratting about near the corner flag, I hate that whoever does it. However, I...

Unless CW is stupider than I take him for, what he says to the press, what he says in the dressing room, and what he thinks will be three different things. What he thinks may be deduced from his decision to bring in two new strikers, and I suspect he is disappointed about the conversion rate, as sai...

I thought the opposition yesterday were noticeably poor, and that this has to be factored in. Two other factors in this debate, though: firstly, as several people have said at various stages, there is a sense of more to come, not because of lack of effort, just because there does not yet seem to hav...

I listened to RadOx on the way home, and thought it was 50% justified, 50% theatre. I suspect that if you say to professional footballers, &quotthat was below par&quot, it has little effect, and you need a strong message. I agree that it was good not to name individuals, but I think performa...

Like everyone else, I thoroughly enjoyed last night, but I'm not convinced that Luton were that good. They clearly have talented players, and one or two of their passages of build-up play were classy - but they seemed a bit slow at times, and the finishing was poor. The left back was taken off at ha...

As everyone knows, discipline is crucial, and Wilder, I suspect, is on the tougher end - not much sentimentality likely. Perhaps the reason nothing has surfaced is that the ball is in Billy's court (gloves?). If the rumours are true, then CW might have said that Billy has one chance to sit on the be...

I wasn't there, but isn't too much being made out of this? He's a young footballer who has scored a goal, and badge-kissing is something that you do (like cartwheels, etc.) when you are excited. I don't blame a footballer taking a better deal somewhere else. The problem is only that the mythology of...

One of those players who, playing for the opposition - Mansfield in this case - I thought looked good. This was a few of years ago, but I can't imagine any other BSP side with three centre backs to match Foster / Creighton / Day - oh, and Sandwith if need be.

What strikes me about this retained list in comparison with the 08 one is that it has much more balance - last year, we had umpteen defenders and no strikers at all. If Chapman is available for next year, the starting point is a pretty good midfield, most of a back line and one quality striker.
