Re: Gary Waddock

From that perspective what was really striking was how much more up for it they were ... playing at a much higher tempo, harassing us, winning the 50-50s, just wanting it more, faster to the ball, faster with it, faster off it. This is what struck me - right from the off they looked desperate for t...

Re: Does IL have a clue?

I, as you may know, am very keen on the youth players and development squad playing a part. The last point was an area which I didn't think Wilder embraced out of choice. So? He did embrace it, keeping his end of the bargain when he was awarded a new contract. I'm sure privately he would have liked...

Re: Does IL have a clue?

Enough is enough - form and confidence are so low that IL has to come out this week and either announce a new manager (preferably) or confirm ML until the end of the season, in which case we need to get right behind him. Anything less and this season will peter out completely.

Re: Does IL have a clue?

And as soon as the going got tough at the higher level, he lost his bottle. Not actually sure quite what this means. On the field, he was doing pretty ok - not brilliantly, but well enough to have a reasonable chance of promotion. At the time he left he'd just come out of a dodgy spell over Christm...

Re: Does IL have a clue?

Too many people watch too much Sky Sports News and play too much Championship Manager, they demand instant success, constantly want new strikers, new managers, chairmen to spunk cash away like it's going out of fashion. We are a skint club with precious few assets. We should be grateful we have a c...

Re: Does IL have a clue?

CW made a series of mistakes when he was in charge of OUFC, as every other manager has done when in charge of their clubs. Principal among CW's errors was relying on short-term loans rather than long-term loans, permanent signings and the development squad. This season, and maybe some of last, this ...

Re: Does IL have a clue?

I wondered when people might start to realise that Wilder actually was doing pretty well. A lot of people on here were overjoyed when he jumped ship - I wonder if they still are? Having said that, March has thrown up some of the hardest fixtures of the season, so it was always gong to be make or bre...

Re: Welcome to the Minchery madhouse Mad Dog

I guess the views from YF and GY just show you can spin any situation to suit your viewpoint - if you believe we should have a new manager in place now then all of the above arguments are valid, if you believe that we would be better off not rushing into anything and taking stock at the end of the s...

Re: Welcome to the Minchery madhouse Mad Dog

There are a number of reasons why we need a new manager, and by 'new' I mean not Mickey Lewis: 1) Mickey is part of the old problem. Yes the players like him, he is good old Mickey, but they like him because he is what they are used to. He is the face they have seen on the training ground for as lo...

Re: How Chris Wilder stays calm...

I did see the article on Saturday - almost spat my tea when I saw his name! For me, this bit said a lot: Drink helps, too; I have been known to find the answer in the bottom of a pint pot. There were all sorts of rumours about his drinking whilst he was at Oxford, so that resonated a bit. Not a gre...

Re: Welcome to the Minchery madhouse Mad Dog

Are you sure? Not impressed with Wright's post match interview this afternoon either. The usual stuff but also a rather outrageous attempt to force the chairman's hand which isn't helpful and I'm sure he'll be told just that! By all means have your say in private but personally I don't think he sho...

We are at least in the play-offs, end of.
Really? Seven points clear of Plymouth, who have a game in hand and are winning for fun, and us having to play Burton, Chesterfield and Southend in the next few matches? I wish I shared your optimism.
