Re: Whisper it...

The strength of our team is probably reflected by the fact that there were 18 scouts at the game yesterday.....

Re: Football League Trophy

I would make the following tweaks: 1. The rules are the same for all clubs, so if we want to play our youth team we can. 2. I don't have an issue with premier league clubs playing provided the rules are the same and they whack more money into the pot. They currently use the FA cup and league cup to...

Re: Stewart DONALD

I may not have the chronology quite right on this, but I thought the OxVox statement came after the club's criticism of the time being taken on this deal? Even in light of yesterday's news, I still think it was appropriate for OxVox to respond to that at the time.

Re: Chairman's Programme Notes v Scunthorpe

Sadly your last line proves the contradiction to your comment about Herd. He wasn't a good owner. He very nearly killed the club with signings that he had no money to pay for, starting to build a stadium he had no funding in place for. These rank him pretty lowly in the scheme of things. I accept y...

Re: Chairman's Programme Notes v Scunthorpe

"Owners come and go..." My turn. Come on Myles, you're an intelligent chap, that's a silly comment. Owners that progress the club as Eales has done do not come and go. Eales is by a very wide margin, the best chairman and owner of OUFC ever. Bar none. OUFC are now a proper football club, ...

Re: Chairman's Programme Notes v Scunthorpe

Those whose arguments are the sum total of "words fail me" clearly have no defensible argument. Oh come on Terry, you're better than that. I just find it absolutely gob-smacking that you are having a pop at OxVox for what you perceive as "public criticism of the owner". I could ...

Re: Chairman's Programme Notes v Scunthorpe

And today's OxVox statement makes it abundantly clear that OCC are heavily involved. And not best pleased with Darryl Eales! My initial thoughts were that OxVox would have been better off keeping their frustrations with the club to themselves, but I suspect they have come under pressure from FK/OCC...

Re: Chairman's Programme Notes v Scunthorpe

But there would be ongoing access to new revenue streams more or less from day 1, to pay for ongoing costs of playing in the Championship, coupled with security that ownership provides as to future revenue streams, thus significantly reducing risk of present day investment. Again, you're making tha...

Re: Chairman's Programme Notes v Scunthorpe

It would be interesting to know whether what is proposed is a 'stand-alone' deal for the sale of the ground and associated land at an agreed price; or whether it is tied into other deals between FK and other parties eg to allow him more development opportunities in the vicinity. If the latter, then...

Re: Chairman's Programme Notes v Scunthorpe

Terry, you have completely ignored the point I made and making the same assumptions that the club seems to be making. I don't think I have, on either account. Feel free to enlighten me. I said: The club are clearly banking on a deal providing some sort of immediate cash windfall to them either thro...

Re: Chairman's Programme Notes v Scunthorpe

Thinking more about this Heads of Terms discussion, a penny suddenly dropped. Even by announcing HoT right now for a stadium deal between Firoka, OxVox and (probably) OCC, that should have precisely ZERO bearing on the club's ability to plan for next season. The club are clearly banking on a deal pr...

Re: NEW SIGNINGS

The tribunal costs are supposed to be about recompensing actual costs incurred in development. I don't believe any League 2 club has ever invested £200k in any individual's development. It's not quite as simple as that. The following is from a sports law firm: PFCC hearings require each club to pro...

IMHO they got it pretty much right. Not sure why you think a 23yo with nearly 250 first team appearances would only be worth £20-50K?

Re: Covvy break

appleton I assume sees lundstram as key to our play and has been hoping he'll play his way back to confidence. I lost patience on tuesday night. I've previously commented on my lack of surprise regarding Lundstram's poor form this year, as the warning signs were there last season. What hit me on Tu...
