Re: Progress
Not sure what you mean by "not playing any recognised opposition yesterday". MK were one place and one point behind us at kick-off. If you were referring to the players they had missing, then let us not forget us getting a point from the Rotherham game - a team that has swept aside most op...

Hoping history does not repeat itself
So we are getting a keeper in on emergency loan:

The circumstances may not have been as an emergency loan, but my immediate thought was of:

Re: Brewers scoop
No Brewer influenced the game more than he did. In my view of course. During the second half, after a group of Us fans went quiet after singing a song insulting him, a lone voice piped up in the quiet. He is keeping them in it. He said. Exactly. But of course my criteria for motm may be different to...

Re: Brewers scoop
I did not hear an announcement about their Man of the Match, but if it was not their keeper there would be no justice. On this occasion (unlike other matches, for sure) it was more a case of saves made than chances missed. If their plan was to have so many defenders to counter our attacking play, it...

Re: It's a steel
My Wednesday-supporting friend advised me to walk down to the Hillsborough tram stop to get the blue line after the game, as that would be less crowded than the yellow line trams (and it goes directly to the railway station). She was right - busy but I even got a seat. The first two minutes had me c...

Re: About 142 ml
There was so much about that match that summed up my frustrations with the team currently. Having started well and scored a great goal, Taylor is unlucky to hit the post with a header. After that, Gillingham start to wake up, so we start our passing back, forth, sideways, around the back, to try to ...

Economics, Institutions, Football Shirts
Just published in the Journal of Institutional Economics is a paper entitled "The evolution of the football jersey – an institutional perspective". Focusing on first-choice (home) kit colours, it offers an analysis of why first choice colours have changed so little over the decades. Sadly ...

Re: Have I Got Old News For You
You may recall that, back in late Feb when we played MK, we could not understand how their keeper was not sent off (by ref James Oldham) for a foul on one of our players (even though he was going away from goal). I heard yesterday that recently, when a young proto-ref asked him about errors he had m...

Re: Wimbledone
This, if I recall, is not the first time that there has been criticism of KRs substitutions - who and when. Then we have comments about Winnall/Agyei, lack of pace on the counter, Holland doing nothing of note, poor set piece delivery, etc, etc, etc. Not having been at Plough Lane, what worries me i...

Re: OUFC Youth - Where are they now
Looks like Nico Jones is following Canice Carroll to Brentford (three PL clubs interested).

I hope for his sake that he avoids doing a Canice.

Re: Cambridge
With the issue of slow starts, I wonder if it is almost inevitable given KRs preferred style of play. It will take longer than pre-season can offer to build up partnerships and familiarity with patterns of play, given the sort of possession-based passing game we have. And this will be compounded wit...

Canice Carroll back in Oxford:

I was amazed when he left us for Brentford. Sad to see potential (for now at least), not having been realised.

Re: “We need to act like a Championship club…”
I'm more concerned that Elliott Moore is entering the last year of his contract. You can't reap the benefits of player development if you let them run their contracts down. And he was (on balance) the better of the two central defenders last year imo. Instead we've given John Mousinho a new deal! S...

Re: “We need to act like a Championship club…”
Probably because of the financial gap that has opened up between the second and third divisions in recent years. We would be stretched to compete with established Championship clubs even if we get promotion. As things stand, we can't. So they can not only meet transfer fee demands, they can change p...

Re: New signings
These look like two great signings:

Given the questions over Billy Bodin's fitness, hopefully these two can keep him and others out of the treatment room.
