Re: Tinkerman
http://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/sport/oxfordunited/11242036.Oxford_United_out_in_front_after_using_just_23_players_last_season/ Interesting article, rather suggests that we were doing well to be in touch with the automatics for a large part of the season especially given a fair few of the squad were pl...

Re: James Constable
13 miles across London, from South East to the North, might as well be 100 miles anywhere else in the country. Eh? How do you work that one out? Transport links in London are a million times better than anywhere else in the country. You try getting across Oxfordshire by bus (including waiting times...

Re: James Constable
If anyone can fit a fag paper's worth of argument between the cases of [Woolwich] Arsenal and <M.K>[Wimble]don<s> other than "a century ago there weren't self-appointed fans' spokespeople desperate for attention" I'd love to hear it. Clubs have changed locations, strips, names, grounds an...

Re: James Constable
GY, don't forget that in spirit we are Headington United; a team who cynically changed their name in a marketing bid to get into the football league (which worked) so your argument of staying within the city limits is a bit off. If you wanted to be true to the spirit of the club, you should be insi...

Re: James Constable
I see Midson has now signed for Eastleigh. Yes, that partnership of Constable and Midson really worked for us didn't it? Er... yes, it did. It was those two (along with Green) whose goals got us promoted, so I think Eastleigh have been shrewd in reuniting them. Had they played as a front two (rathe...

Re: Possible league reform
#AgainstModernFootball It’s a price you have to pay to succeed (in all but a very few examples), and I’ll bet you’d change your views if Richard Branson bought Us out and named the place the Virgin Arena after he’d tarted it up a bit on and off the field. Well, no, I wouldn't actually. You might be...

Re: Possible league reform
Now the Daily Mail ask where the Lenagans where when his Warriors were doing their stuff. Lol - free tickets from Firoka perhaps? Thanks for posting that link, Snake. This bit interested me as I was hitherto unaware of it: Lenagan is also chairman of League Two football team Oxford United and an FA...
Re: Playoffs
Glad to see Cambridge win today. Could be a fun awayday, with good shopping and art for the missus. So good, you said it thrice. Glad to see them back too - they deserve it, given how far ahead of the chasing pack they finished, and for having given Luton a decent run for their money. It also will ...
Re: Contracts
Today has seen the offer of a New(ey) contract. Not sure I would have made the same call if I was in Waddock's shoes - but it may be reduced terms as a backup etc etc.
I wonder when we'll see the first of the new arrivals? July, probably, if previous years are anything by which to go...

Re: Possible league reform
I can see us developing a real rivalry with Stoke B. With their fiesty fan base and travelling support, it'll be a cracking atmosphere. Ha, good post. That, in a nutshell, is why it's a shit idea and a million times worse than a proper competitive league with proper clubs with proper supporters. If...

Re: Possible league reform
Danny Mills; "I'm sure the supporters of Hartlepool would much rather watch Hartlepool play a Man Utd B team than Torquay" Did he really say that? What a berk. Like most pundits, I doubt he's ever paid to watch a game using his own money - certainly not at lower league level. Maybe that'd...

You beat me to it by a matter of seconds...
I'd predict that a certain Christopher Allen may well make the step up to replace him.
No news yet on the retained list - although I notice that other clubs in the division have started to release theirs.

Re: Conference merger with L2?
Seems like a terrible idea, and one I can't see getting approved. Sevela key flaws, including: 1) The analogies with Spain, France and Germany ignore the fact that those countries don't have as many fully-professional lower leagues with well-supported clubs in them. 2) There's nothing stopping clubs...

Re: New future, New kit
Is it too much to hope for a return to proper football shirts with a proper collar? We've not had one like that since the old Unipart kit. We had a half-hearted collar on the last Bridle kit, but it wasn't the same.
Re: Accounts
Not owning our own stadium makes it all but impossible to generate any off the field revenue and I think some more drastic action needs to be taken against FK to get him to sell/give us the stadium. There is a good argument for why he should give it to us. He made £6m from the sale of the Manor. He...
