I seem now to have Setanta with my Virgin cable package (which excellently allowed me to watch the Cork v Waterford Hurling quarter final) ... but I don't knwo if that will include the pay football games. They had SPL games live.

Re:

Pretty puzzled by the entire Gnohere situation. Puzzle no more: from the club's site: &quotGnohere ... first came to Jim Smith's attention when Jim was at Portsmouth. Gnohere came to Pompey on trial ...&quot Isn't loyalty a wonderful thing? Anyone know what proportion of signings in the Smi...

It is plausible that people are on holiday, of course ... Do rugby league rules allow ownership of more than one club? Be odd if so. Or is the ownership of Harlequins RL through Harlequins RU all smoke and mirrors? Wigan are the ManUre of RL. On that ground alone I'd be very unhappy if IL had them i...

Presumably the argument for Gilchrist is that he brings his experience and leadership - but I never saw any great evidence that he actually did much to organise, marshall and lead the defence (or the team as a whole) - unlike, say, Andy Crosby. As with Crosby, I think the back line tends to be much ...

You'd have thought that, of past managers, Mark Wright would be the most likely to be checking on Gnohere.

On the face of it, the Thursday games versus Cambridge (Burton on the Saturday) and Torquay (Farsley on the Saturday) give the squad little time to recover from knocks and regroup ... doesn't seem very sensible.

Rather late period Young for some of us oldies. Albeit pre-Thatcher's election.

... don't even give a little part of a damn, Peña? The &quotnervous&quot section isn't quite right for me ... nervous about the lack of squad, but equally or even more nervous that it is Jim that will be shaping it. How about &quotNervous - I wish Jim Smith would take a long holiday and ...

I ran in a British Universities Cross Country race up there a million years ago (I know it is hard to believe). It went through a turnip field - I have a hideous recollection of neep encrusted spikes. Most of the English teams got beaten up in the pubs afterwards. Makes Grays or Ebsfleet seem quite ...

A now Manchester dwelling friend (who came with me to the Stafford Rangers away game this year) mailed to me today &quotPS The Butchers Arms (Droylsden) is quite like Stafford's ground, though not so spacious ...&quot Oh joy unconfined.

That'd be Leith Hill, I think. Box Hill good for Richard Thompson enthusiasts ....

Walked a chunk of the North Downs Way / Downs Link around Chinthurst/Chilworth.

You people are weird. I spent the whole day avoiding it. I cut grass, I agreed to go for a long walk in Surrey, I moved furniture and carpets. It was even hard keepingup with the cricket for fear of a passing mention. Actually watching it would just have re-energised the pain of that bloody Tuesday ...

Brevett was poor, but he wasn't picked for game after game while being poor. Unlike Slow Eddie.
