Re:

well that shatters that illusion. I always thought you two were grumpy old 40 somethings like most of us on here. No, just grumpy old 30 somethings. Incidentally, when I lived in Lyon, they often let students in free or for a nominal 1 franc, just to boost attendances. That was before they became t...

Re:

Best of a bad bunch Kernow - was there anyone else who deserved it more? Anaclet. Defended well and got forward well. Always made himself available for a pass from midfield or defence. Rarely had an option to move the ball on again easily. I know his crossing was poor (as ever), but if he could do ...

Man of the match...

...Chris Tardif! WTF?

He showed last night why Smith has been right to keep faith with Turley all season. I used to think we had the two best keepers in the Conference - now I'm not so sure. If Tards really wants to secure a move away from the club, last night will not have helped his cause.

Varsity promotion

Much as I hate OUFC vs CUFC being labelled as anything to do with 'varsity', the club's promotion to students is interesting - they're an untapped resource in the city. But I think that £12.50 isn't really an attractive deal for a student to watch Conference football. I remember Cambridge doing a si...

Gunn deserves to be dropped, for that pass straight out of play if nothing else. Oh, and THAT header on 20 seconds. And that challenge he put in to earn a booking was pretty reckless. Shame - he played much better at Exeter on NYD. Maybe, just maybe, Smith is signing a young CB that he thinks he can...

Re:

if the signings have all been bad, how do you account for the start we had to our season? it seems a long time ago, but we did play well at times, didn't we? (he asks in an increasingly hysterical manner...) I don't think we've played well on many occasions at all this season. We had defensive resi...

Re:

I completely disagree with all the above posts. None of them does justice to how bad we were tonight. That ranks up there with the worst of all time, and lets not forget that's the double done on us by the 4th or 5th worst side in the conference. We made a very poor side, look half decent. 5-3-2 ha...

Oh, and didn't SixTV show a pre-season friendly against Derby a few seasons back? Or does that not count...

Oh, and you're missing the Mike Read Chelsea game off your list - it was definitely live, though I'm not sure the replay was, was it?

That's the first time I've ever heard that the Boro game was live on telly. Not saying you're wrong, but... And it was definitely 4-1 - we celebrated Banger's goal like we'd won the Cup Final. I'm sure the Marlow game was NOT on telly. I was away at Uni at the time, so didn't get to the game, but wo...

Maybe I didn't make my argument clear. I don't have a problem with small towns, or clubs with small grounds, punching well above their weight. I think it's great. My problem is when barely a thousand people in a decent sized town can be bothered to go and watch their football team play professional,...

Re:

I've no beef with the Accies. I do - the fact that after a 44 year wait for league football, fewer than 2,000 of their fans can be bothered to turn up and watch it. I know league tables aren't based on attendances, but towns like Accrington, Macclesfeld, Boston and Kidderminster don't deserve leagu...

Re:

As for Patterson, from what I remember from his last turn in charge, I saw a dire 1-1 away at Bury (where the team only tried to attack when 1-0 down) and a 1-0 slightly fortuitous penalty win over Rovers. I think there was another draw in there somewhere. 0-0 at Meadow Lane. One of the direst game...
