Re: Chris Wilder

With the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, Wilder has to go down as at least in the top 5 managers of OUFC and perhaps top 3. He was starved of cash by the owners towards the end, meaning the squad could not be developed. As Ty has said, I think with MApp's budget, Wilder would have achieved at least simi...

Re: Chris Wilder

44.7% average managerial win rate over his career is very decent indeed especially as it was just 38% at Halifax. I know some Halifax fans and they said they didn't like him when he was at the helm but realised later that he had got them into the Conference play-offs with literally buttons to use a...

Re: You're winding me up!

Though I have to wonder if we are just going down the same loop of club and stadium being separated again, with owner keeping all the ancillaries leaving the club without all the key non-ticket income? Also as the club is losing so much money, how long is this sustainable? If that were the case, an...

Re: You're winding me up!

Anyone else anticipating a club statement in a week or so regarding the ownership of Oxford United? It's long been rumoured that Erick Thohir is the likely chairman in the long-term and that Sumrith Thanakarnjanasuth will make a quick buck from his brief tenure and then ride off into the sunset. Th...

Re: Safety in numbers

Because Walsall and Southend have to play each other, only one of them can now catch us. Ditto for Rochdale and Wycombe. Bradford are already too far behind. Several clubs are only able to just match our 53 points because they play each other. So we are now virtually mathematically certain to stay u...

Re: Safety in numbers

It's been a good run of results, but oh how those results could have been very different. It's not as if we have totally dominated other teams. We even came very close to losing at home to Bradford as part of that run. There are still plenty of combinations of results that could see us being overtak...

Re: You're winding me up!

That statement is simply embarrassing. Yes it is. Especially only a few days after the club failed to pay its non-playing staff resulting in a strike at the club, and having only just scraped enough together to pay the players. With Kassam not having been paid, and staff not being paid, it makes yo...

Re: Tiger's Visit

Thanks for that Terry. I wasn't sure how the equity injection was treated in the accounts, so that was really useful. Can we ascertain from these accounts how much, if any, debt owed to DE was written off with the takeover? My pleasure mate. I'll have to spend a few minutes checking the Eales debt ...

Re: Tiger's Visit

So checking on timings. O'Dowda and Roofe were sold July 2016 so those transfer fees should be income in the 2017 accounts. The 2017 post balance sheet note had net player buys and sells for £3M. Lundstram was sold July 2017 (500k?), Johnson August 2017 (3M?)so those should be in the 2018 accounts....

Re: Tiger's Visit

This would easily have been prevented by simply always having the next months funding in place, rather than trying to transfer it on a just in time basis. But surely that's the problem - Tiger doesn't 'simply' have the funding available! If he did, as you say he could 'easily' prevent these problem...

Re: Tiger's Visit

OK I've read the accounts, but because they are abbreviated accounts, there is much less detail to read than in previous years. There is no requirement for the club to publicly publish full accounts and there hasn't been in living memory, so we've actually had access to a lot of information previous...

Re: Tiger's Visit

I understand that the players were paid by the club scrimping around for the cash to pay them, and having only just about enough. Coaching and admin staff were not paid, and threatened not to come in on Saturday. The club advised the staff they would be paid on Saturday if they came in. They staff t...

Re: Tiger's Visit

It’s not where the cash ended up , but how a season when there were player sales of 3.5 estimate still ended with a loss of 2. Perhaps I’ve got my dates wrong and Johnson and Lundstram were sold the year before? Or maybe Eales took money out as an expense ? TT any ideas ? I did check tail end of la...

Re: Tiger's Visit

Perhaps also worrying is that in the year to June 2018 the club lost £2million, a year when Johnson and Lundstram were reportedly sold for some £3.5million (before sell-ons to their previous clubs). There is less detail in the accounts this year so it's hard to work out how we lost so much. Because...

Re: Sent to Coventry

This has been such a yo yo season. Absolutely no consistency at all.

The table looks better, but may be a mirage, as it is very tight in the bottom half.

I’m reserving judgement until we are mathematically safe as it seems whatever we conclude, the following week the team do the opposite.
