Bolton Bury'd

Both Bolton and Bury will start the season with a minimum 12 points deducted. Bury's deduction results from their CVA, and they should escape further punishment, other than the punishment of having no money for decent players. All their decent players have now been signed elsewhere (apparently 6 of ...

Re: Summer transfers 2019

A (fit) proven striker and centre back are now desperately urgent and need to be signed this week. Cover at left back needed within a fortnight. The way Robbo is setting the side up is very similar to the start of last season, and we know how that turned out, but I'm not blaming Robbo for this. Mous...

I understand the deal was done yesterday, but this is not from an official source.

I don’t think that M Brown Esq was ever in West Ham’s plans
I'm delighted to know that this forum has kept its traditional pedantic intentions.

Re: Summer transfers 2019

The trouble with the compensation system is that the tribunals are often biased towards higher level teams. We've suffered from teams virtually stealing our stars in the past. Not that it would make using a foreign entity scheme to avoid responsibilities. Motherwell will hardly be flush themselves. ...

Re: Ched Evans

Where do we draw the line on this morality scale of who plays for the club? There are always tales going around of player X or staff member Y having affairs. Other examples given of killing people in motoring accidents /drink driving, assaults, racism etc Is Ched Evans a risk to the women at the cl...

Re: Ched Evans

If Oxford only signed footballers of decent morale standing we would struggle to get a team out every week. He has played for 3 teams since the incident - I find it a little bizarre that Oxford are expected to somehow act as jury and judge - if the courts deem that he's free to carry on earning a l...

This is a useful summing up of some of the key issues, along with some very unedifying details. That is indeed a very helpful link. Thanks Colin. The courts are not a moral arbiter as someone suggested. They decide on points of law. Law and morality are not the same thing, not by a long way. Law is...

Re: Ched Evans

The courts are not a moral arbiter as someone suggested. I didn’t quite say that (though I understand your point). I asked who should be a moral arbiter if not the courts? I’m in no way defending Ched Evans’ character, and I understand why people don’t want Us to sign him. I’m just not sure that sh...

Re: Ched Evans

Agreed with all of that post, OY, except for this bit: Do Ched Evans known previous activities give rise to a concern with regards to those employed within the club? If the answer to that is yes, then he should not be signed as an OUFC player. That's hard to square with our previous signing / re-si...

St James Park

So we took another look at Guthrie. Continuously been given number 22, which suggests the deal may already have been done, even if not announced. Did OK again. The rumours of Ched Evans signing were unwelcome to my ears. Brackley were an altogether superior side to either City or Thame. Very organis...
