Re: Season predictions 2022/23

If I was guessing, I'd say that Forde was offered more money to drop two divisions and play for Wrecsam (they're paying silly money by all accounts) and was likely to start more games. If they were happy to throw in a fee as well, then it's hard to see a reason to turn it down. I guess the fee and t...

Season predictions 2022/23

So, with CamBran's contract extension giving rise to a wave of positivity across Oxfordshire, what are our predictions for the season? Given that the squad's still a bit thin and K-Rob always starts the season slowly anyway, I can see it being something of a grind but that we'll end up hauling ourse...

Re: Where are they now?

Due to a series of coincidences, I am in Belfast this weekend and ended up watching Linfield’s pre-season game against Newtown, with Joel Cooper featuring for the home side. Despite him clearly being Linfield’s main focal point for their attacks, I thought he was very poor. Missed a sitter, squander...

Re: Fixtures

I was wondering when, if ever, we've been scheduled to start the league season in July? As I understand it, it’s because Div 1 and Div 2 are starting the season early and finishing it late to allow a break for the World Cup, and the Football League don’t want Div 3 and Div 4 to start later than the...

Fixtures

All gone a bit quiet on here, hasn't it? In an attempt to inject some enthusiasm, what games are we looking forward to this season then? Despite being a cynical old fart, I love Fixture Release Day. If you'd told me a week ago that in seven days' time I'd be getting excited about planning a potentia...

Re: Blown it (probably)

That’s surely it now. A shame, but there was a sense of inevitability about it. Big rebuilding job to be done over the summer given how many of this squad will now surely be poached by bigger clubs. I just hope that this time, the rebuild starts from the defence and moves forwards rather than KR spe...

Re: Where are they now?

Former Oxford striker Craig Davies speaks on this podcast (34m 30s in) about THAT incident with Julian Alsop.

Re: Joey

Well I thought that was impressively handled yesterday. As Jerome said right at the end of Radio Oxford's coverage, the circumstances meant that it couldn't be described as a perfect day - but everything was handled perfectly. At times, I wondered whether it felt a bit quiet / muted, but then I real...

Re: Joey

Just awful news. People are quite rightly talking about the (reportedly) tragic circumstances of his death to remind others that there is help and support out there for them and that no-one should suffer in silence, and that's a really important message. But amidst all the tragedy, let's also rememb...

Weirdly, it seems to have also deleted a few of my recent posts - unless I've upset the mods! Anyway, thanks for fixing. As always, if donations towards running costs are needed then make sure you say.

Re: Give Us A (Stratfield) Brake

Interesting to note the report anticipates seeing "a planning application submitted by May 2023 and construction of the new Stadium to be completed by May 2026."

That strikes me as VERY optimistic.

Re: Give Us A (Stratfield) Brake

I'm a bit more positive than you, KY. You're right that there aren't any great pubs near the new site, but frankly there aren't any good ones near where we've been for the last 21 years either! But at least we can all have a few drinks in Kidlington and walk over or in the city centre and get a trai...

Re: (Water) Eton Rifles

Interesting that the letter doing the rounds says "18,000 capacity" and not "18,000-seater". Please god let that mean a safe standing terrace somewhere... #BringBackTheLondonRoad #LeftSideTilIDie That aside, anyone who remembers how long it took to secure the move to Minchery Far...

Re: Progress

The question is, though - are these last two performances a blip, a mid-season drop, or a serious slump? I'm basing this solely on having seen the highlights (the guidance for those of us living in Wales is to not go to a crowded stadium, let alone drive for several hours to do so), so my view may ...

Season’s greetings

Logging out of all social media and other distractions in order to make the most of the festive period, but just wanted to wish everyone on here best wishes and to thank you for all the interesting discussions over the last year. Here’s hoping football returns to some semblance of normality in 2022,...
