Re: Managerial Merry-go-round

Post weekend catch-up: Pulis appointed at Palace on Saturday, Whittingham sacked this evening after their weekend defeat against Scunthorpe for whom Megson and O'Leary lead the betting. Andy Crosby is at 20/1, Wilder not listed (despite the discussions on the other side). Apparently Martin Allen is...

Re: U18s FA youth cup - Decision time for Snake

An excellent win for the Youth Team again.

I would suspect that we should have very little hope at Swansea but another good run this year.

Re: Youth Unemployment

I see James Roberts scored his 16th goal of the season for the youth tonight. How long before he leap-frogs Marsh in the pecking order. Not too long I suggest - but that is just a gut feeling. Agree on that one. Just because Marsh is a member of the Development squad he still has to perform to just...

Re: Youth Unemployment

I seem to recall reading in Saturday's programme that the Development Squad has only just played its first fixture...not that they are represented on the club website (as far as I can tell) to confirm this. I do agree with the general sentiment, though. The same thought crossed my mind when he was ...

Re: Youth Unemployment

He doesn't seem to be making the breakthrough that I suspect we had all hoped for. I believe that he has only scored 1 goal in the Development matches and as the OP suggested if he isn't brought on earlier in a game virtually won, then one can only assume that he is not rated particularly highly by ...

I seem to remember Quinn and Scott cost quite a lot of money in transfer fees as well? What a waste of money (both purchased from Brentford I think). Uncle Firoz sure was taken in by a few football 'experts' and his appointment of managers and players was so poor.

Re: James Constable: Legend?

No Jake Wright? Actually Mark Wright should be up for consideration as well. What in his managerial capacity? Never could he be described as a legend as a player. he only played 10 games or so for us before going to Southampton. In my view a 'legend' surely has to have given something to the team o...

Re: James Constable: Legend?

I just checked out the 68/69 season which was my first full season watching United and all of the goalscorers that season are on my Legend List with the exceptions of Ray Gaston (2) and Barry Thornley (1) Calling Ken Skeen a goal machine is pretty over the top! My list would be much shorter althoug...

Re: Paul Beasley's Fan's View

! Agree, (partly - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjYiqu0WL0M) and no real excuse why Oxford United shouldn’t be in the bag of 3rd round ties and the potential of a big money spinner. If so I know what I’d like as a dream scenario.. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. No excuse but why many of us lov...

Re: How best to use Kitson?

I would be inclined to play in the current 4 4 1 1 away from home, but ask DK to play much further forward at home (so more of a genuine 4 4 2 with the wingers asked to get at the full backs and get crosses in). The worry is whether the wingers will get enough of the ball in good positions to get en...
