Re: Football League Trophy

we hold the record for the highest non league attendance, I don't think we do anymore. More watched the 2015 final between Bristol and Grimsby. come and watch us break potentially break the lower league record as well (in case you're wondering that is currently 76,935 for Man City v Gills in the pl...

Impressive.
You called it right. Just seen an article stating that they have sold out their initial allocation and have been allocated another 6.5k.

Re: Football League Trophy

EFL aren't going to come out with a statement until all clubs have voted on it The final decision is one for the clubs, yes. But the Football League could announce that they've reflected on the lower attendances and the supporter discontent, and that they'll be recommending to clubs that the B Team...

Re: Football League Trophy

Realistically, I think the only thing left to say is that, whether or not you are going to Wembley, it seems clear that we all agree B Teams are a shit idea so hopefully they won't be involved in the Trophy next season so we can all go back to basing our decisions on whether to attend the games simp...

Re: Football League Trophy

The EFL won't give a monkeys whether you go or not. Well what better way of showing how how strong the bottom two divisions are by selling out Wembley - couldn't think of a stronger message to say we don't need B teams in the lower leagues. Not wishing to bring pedantry back to this forum (!) but I...

Re: Football League Trophy

Will B teams, come back on the agenda? The EPL could quite easily use the carrot / stick approach of offering to increase / decrease the solidarity payments below Championship level, and many clubs would perhaps welcome an extra million or two each year (us for instance). Perhaps the five leagues o...

Worth a read whichever side of the fence you are on: https://michaelappletonsmum.wordpress.com/2017/03/01/an-open-letter-to-oxford-united-players/ Here's the text: I’m really sorry. I’m really sorry that I won’t be there to watch you walk out at Wembley on what might well be a once in a lifetime opp...

Re: Whisper it...

Nice to see Leyton Orient on the brink as well. I am not normally given to schadenfreude, but given their attitude when they came to Grenoble Road last year, I shall make an exception with them. Schadenfreude on schadenfreude is OK, I think. The bad memories of 2006 still burn inside me so normally...

Re: Football League Trophy

but supporting the lads at Wembley in perhaps the biggest game of their career is a no. My inference from this is that your argument boils down to 'you are not a proper supporter if you don't go to Wembley'. However, you are not going to Luton. Surely if Wembley is the biggest game of the players' ...

Re: Football League Trophy

Does it extend to not supporting clubs who rely on players from Premier league B teams? Ideally, the rules would change somehow to stop the PL teams taking on dozens of youngsters every year. This, of course, would allow these youngsters, who at the moment will only ever appear in the Trophy B Team...

Re: Football League Trophy

So am I right to assume that many of the people on this forum won't be watching the game on TV on Wed - wouldn't want viewing figures to be used as an argument that the event is popular would we? I think we've already established on p2 of this thread that comparatively few of us have (or want to ha...

Re: Do you want us to get promoted this season?

I don't think that the players and manager would (or even could) actively choose not to go for it. They are professionals and want to win every game. We, as supporters, want them to win every game as well. Of course, the question really is whether ultimately promotion this season would be a good thi...

Re: Football League Trophy

I wonder what would happen if some slight tweaks to the competition were made, would it make it more palatable. Hopefully we can all agree that the competition needed refreshing - it had been dying on it's knees for sometime, crowds were low at all clubs until we played a local rival or got to the ...
