Re: On This Day

I remember this. It was a really cold day and I had no idea the match had been moved to an early kick-off. I called the club to check whether the match would go ahead (living in London I learned the hard way to do this if the match was in any doubt)...the receptionist answered "Yes, it's on now...

Re: Programmes

I have a mountain of old programmes, Raging Bulls and of course, lots and lots of Yellow Fevers taking up valuable clutterspace and annoying my wife at the moment. I keep meaning to give them to Ox Vox to flog, but because I a) don't drive and b) live in North London, the idea of lumping them all th...

Re: On This Day

I remember going to that match with you KY, and trying to start this song: 'Gno-here, Gno-there, he's every f***ing where.' And: 'He's got Gnohere, and we do care, Jimmy, Jimmy Smith'. But everyone was too depressed to join in. If you were finding a worst ever Oxford XI picked for a match, the start...

Re: Pompey

Always funny when people who weren't at the game complain when others haven't posted about it. Anyway, some of Us have only just got back home! The first half was a tight affair, both teams cancelling each other out. Their disallowed goal certainly fell into the 'I've seen them given' category, tho...

Re: Pompey

This forum is hilarious, with it's total lack of posts when we're top of the league.

I text a friend before the match predicting utter doom and gloom for this season.

I'm still not convinced otherwise but our goals on Sat suggest otherwise.

Upper half, but with good signs for the future. Like App's first season.

Re: New signings

I'm a little confused at the moment. We were told Pep's method was going to be a continuation of our successful model of the past few seasons of buying young, hungry players on the way up. Yet we appear to be doing the exact opposite. Rather feeling excited by any of our signings, I'm increasingly w...

Re: Appleton IN

It's hard not to think this is a totally stupid move by Appleton. He was ridding himself of his reputation as a ship-jumper. He was building a strong team and perhaps more importantly for himself, really establishing himself as someone who could build a club from scratch. Now, he's gone to be a numb...

Re: End of season review

Hard not to agree with much of what Ty says there, but I'd pick a couple of small points: Bit harsh on Johnson. Whenever he seemed to find his form - and there were many times he was amazing, we would then move him to another (alien) position. It was almost as if we were trying to put the scouts off...

centurians

If we score 3 goals on Saturday, by my reckoning, that will be the second consecutive season we've notched over 100 goals in a campaign. Which really is some achievement, especially given the whining about our lack of a natural goalscorer. The last time we scored 100 plus was 95-96 (prior to last se...
