Re: Going Down??

I recall listening to BBC Radio Kent to hear Gillingham beat Cardiff City which confirmed our survival. I was reminiscing about that the other week. Like many, I think I kidded myself into thinking that we would halt the decline - whereas in fact the years ahead held two relegations and a lot of mi...

How ‘bout this for a team!

We nearly suffered successive relegations after losing our Championship status in 1999. We survived in 2000.
We then of course suffered a further relegation in 2001 under David Kemp.

Re: Going Down??

We survived relegation narrowly in 2000 by beating Scunthorpe at the Manor in the penultimate game. I recall listening to BBC Radio Kent to hear Gillingham beat Cardiff City which confirmed our survival. We stayed up with FORTY FIVE points. Denis Smith came in after Mickey Lewis was given the careta...

Re: Going Down??

A point versus ‘Dale and we’re guaranteed safety.

I am pleased that we go into the game where we have to be proactive - we must not sit back. Let’s have a go at them.

Re: Going Down??

Donny are at home to Bury on Tuesday. If they win or draw they’re safe - we could then head to The Peoples Republic of South Yorkshire with a bit more confidence provided we aren't massacred at Wigan. U’s have never played at the Keep Moat - went to Belle Vue which must rank as one of the worst grou...

Re: Going Down??

A devastating , self inflicted defeat against very ordinary opponents and you have to wonder from where a U’s goal will come. Lots of positive approach play in the first two thirds of the pitch but a distinct lack of a Cutting edge. For much of the time the final pass or decision is woeful. Thought ...

Re: On This Day

25 years ago today I was at London Road Peterborough where I met John Durnin’s dad outside the players entrance! What a character. We drew 1-1 (Beauchamp). London Road had an uncovered terrace down one side of the ground I remember. It was also the day the IRA bomb went off in Warrington. http://www...

Re: Who do you want next?

Come 2 further days Tiger will have owned United for a month yet the guy seems unable to appoint a manager! It’s singularly the most important decision an owner can make so it’s important not to rush but given his takeover took five months you would have thought a managerial appointment would be don...

Re: Who do you want next?

Agreed if we appoint Robinson next week I will laugh my arse off.

The whole thing with “ Tiger “ looks frightening to me right now. I’m sure
there’s much more confusion to come.

How has this happened?

Re: Who do you want next?

It was back in November 2001 that we were once linked with Cotterill. Firoz Kassam had ruthlessly dispensed with the services of Mark Wright but the then Cheltenham Town gaffer Cotterill was not interested in working for Kassam. I’d take Cotterill but I would think he will not do anything until he h...

Re: Tiger

A worryingly shambolic, unprofessional and totally unprepared media event. It was painful to listen to.

All to symptomatic of a club that has lost its way - completely.

Re: When do we start panicking?

I remember Appleton slagging off the fans too - something about 'white noise' wasn't it? And also falling out with some players around the time we got humped by Cambridge. But he was supported unequivocally from above, and given the backing to make changes and bring players in (and ship others out)...
