Re: Season Over?
Feels more definitively over now, but you never know, so we should all write the team off again.... Thought generally Blackpool were just better than us, defensively very solid and their 2 strikers were excellent. We played fairly well, but the first goal was a defensive disaster and the biggest dis...

Re: Taming of the Shrews
It's the hope that gets you. In all of the last 5 completed seasons (so ignoring the last one), 74 points has got a play-off place, although once only on goal difference. So really 4 wins should be enough, 5 wins would make it certain, I'd think. We do have a habit this season of getting close to th...

Re: Season Over?
I thought Grayson was supposed to be left back cover, although he has looked substandard too, he might have done better than a right footed mediocre midfielder attempting to be a left back. I liked Obita, but he's only played 8 games for Wycombe due to injury, so he may not have been a solution eith...
Re: Cobblers
It was like a conference game of football in terms of quality. Always a worry when a manager picks a somewhat confusing team (I briefly thought of Brian Talbot away at Rushden many years ago), but actually we started ok, relative to what followed after. I thought we scored a valid goal but it was mi...

Re: Them 1 - 2 Us
Quite a few pitches have been bad recently, ours included, I don't think it's helped our style of football. Against Slumdon, who are laughably poor this season (I enjoyed the manager double substituting their 2 central defenders in a strop) it was a leveller in their favour, but in other games again...
Re: Ox Files
I've been watching these, they're very enjoyable and well made - so thanks very much. I thought Brian Horton was far too polite though, really we want the dirt and there must have been plenty, but I suppose you don't have the career in management he did without being politically aware. The relegatio...

Re: Don & Dusted
It wouldn't be sensible to play the way we play and pick the same 11 each week with 2 games every week. We need lots of midfielders and wide forwards because they are liable to get injured/exhausted. Robinson has a pattern of settling on a back 5 (or 6 with Stevens) eventually, then he fiddles about...
Re: Rotten
Signs of a recovery - the 2nd half against Northampton was the closest we've come to the peak of last season - a bit of energy, a bit less fear and confidence grew. Credit where it's due to the management and players as the wheels could have come off entirely after the Slumdon game, but they ground ...
Re: Rotten
Our last 5 games we've got 7 points, even if it did involve the worst and most worrying performance against Crewe, which isn't actually that bad. I wasn't really discussing whether the performance on saturday was forgivable or not, as what's that got to do with it? I was attempting to understand why...
Re: Rotten
I know it was Slumdon and therefore it's more important but there's some over-reaction here. I thought the team choked in a relatively unusual situation. There's actually a fair bit of pressure on the players when you're looking at growing a 7 game winning run against your teams biggest rivals. And ...

Re: Up hill and down Dale
The result was certainly a huge relief. Were we that much better though? Once we get a couple of goals we look like a confident team who could score at will. But we could so easily have found ourselves 2-1 down at the start of the second half, without really having created any great chances ourselv...

Re: Cods Wallop
There are obviously a few problems, but I don't agree that we're not creating any chances. Expected goals (which I don't think is necessarily that important but is occasionally interesting) suggests we create a few - see this table https://experimental361.com/2020/11/01/expected-goals-table-league-1...

Re: Crewe-perbole
Because if it does not, then if games are called off over a single positive case within a group who have trained and travelled together, as they should be, then the number of postponed games could multiply very rapidly. Also, anyone who is in contact with a positive covid19 person should self-isola...

Re: Trouble with a drunk coach
Also, prior to Covid there wouldn't have been enough users (i.e. it was only "overseas" fans and the occasional midweek match) to justify the cost of producing a smart tv app. I've used ifollow quite regularly for over 2 seasons and I've always found it pretty good in terms of reliability/...
Re: M40
Being realistic, I can't help feeling we've dodged a very expensive bullet. Wycombe will be straight down, and the poorer for it. We might have been the same. The Championship is worth an extra £5m in turnover. Any increase in costs is voluntary. Some of that £5m would already be spent on wage incr...
