Re: Which would you choose?

It does also make it a lot more certain that Tiger's plans involve some sort of stadium and land deal. As someone else said, the club does seem to be doing well supporting the U-23s and U-18s teams, we are signing players like Sykes with potential to sell on, which you wouldn't necessarily bother w...

Boycott the Blackpool match?

It looks like ticket revenues from this fixture will go to the soon-to-be former owners, and the fans' group is maintaining their boycott of home matches on Saturday for that reason. I was considering going to this, but I'm minded not too: fans need to stick together when it comes to taking on unscr...

Re: Sunderland

And if you're looking for a destroyed car industry, have a look around you on Saturday afternoon. That happened while we were in the EU, and the East side of Oxford have suffered ever since, compounded by austerity. I'm not saying it was the EU's 'fault', but it happened in the context of EU member...

Re: Sunderland

I voted remain, but I absolutely detest the kind of class bigotry on display here. Those that think we'll reverse Brexit on the back of more working class suffering in places like Sunderland, completely misunderstand the complex politics behind Brexit. Places like Sunderland have been completely lef...

Re: Bees sting

And now it's back to the serious business of staying in League One. Maybe it's a good thing that our next fixtures look tricky, given that we seem to raise our game for the better sides (Barnsley away notwithstanding). We certainly need to get out of the losing habit... No - it's back to the stupid...

Records show structure of Oxford United takeover deal

Or do they? Can anyone explain this in layperson terms? http://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/sport/oxfordunited/16074832.Records_show_structure_of_Oxford_United_takeover_deal/ Record at Companies House: https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/document-api-images-prod/docs/oAjfETmnxqj_aEQbApKfymX1rD1XdLY8fvH-cCUnL...

Re: When do we start panicking?

Before panicking, let's look at the facts. Before the season began, the majority of us felt that given the late change in manager, and loss of several of our best players to keep Eales' bank manager happy, mid-table obscurity was what we should expect - provided we did not get sucked into a relegat...

Re: Spotafan Trophy 2017-18 / #BTeamBoycott

I've been intending to boycott any thread about the Trophy this year, but can't help chuckle at the predicament we find ourselves in this evening - a win will be met with angry howls of 'why couldn't we beat Vale instead?' and another loss will get an even worse reaction! A meaningless penalty shoo...

Re: Football League Trophy

I reckon the FA cup took more out of them, and we nearly got to play Man City at home. Presumably you'd have been interested in that? Yes, absolutely. But then I've got no problem with the FA cup. In fact, it's just the sort of undermining of the lower league represented by the B teams' appearances...

Re: Football League Trophy

I agree that me boycotting the final will have very little impact. But if, as I fear it may, this 'experiment' continues into another season (then another, and another), then it is even more important for individuals to hold their ground on this now, as any attempts to repeat a boycott next season w...

Re: Football League Trophy

The boycott stands until B teams are removed from the competition. Good luck to OUFC at Wembley, and well done for getting there, but I'll feel no great sense of excitement for us winning a completely devalued competition in front of a bunch of fans who lack the gumption or discipline to see through...

Re: Whisper it...

Why is it that the FA and the EFL stand idly by as supporters of clubs are subjected to terrible ownership? I guess it suits the big clubs well - allowing for some extremely dodgy stuff like money laundering and tax avoidance at the top end, while inflating the costs of building squads to challenge...

Re: Football League Trophy

That's more like it. Strange. Nothing in my last post qualified or altered in any way the views expressed in my initial one... Yes, you said that this is not about the future of the club. So my silly taunt at least got that out of you. On this, I fundamentally disagree. It is about the future of th...

Re: Football League Trophy

I can see merits in all of the different arguments put forward here. Midweek games are a no-no for me, so my non-attendance so far is independent of whether I would have joined in the boycott. If we get to Wembley, I shall go. There will be plenty who will do likewise. There will also be plenty who...
