Re: The Runners and Riders...
{if you say so Ty!} We need to get away from this idea that because one person did well or badly at something, that means another person in a similar situation will replicate. It's much more complicated than that. I am very suspicious of ex-high level players trying to become managers when having ze...

Re: The Runners and Riders...
Lampard is an interesting one and it could work. He is extremely intelligent (how many players have a grade A GCSE Latin) and has a good football pedigree with his father and uncle both having long-term managerial careers. So he knows exactly what sacrifices and what hard work needs to be done in o...

Re: New signings
Conor McAleny joins two-bit cloggers Fleetwood Town. I feel upset on our behalf but also sorry for him - surely he would have had offers from decent teams? It's hard not to see this as a mistake, to join a club with no fans who will be back in the Conference within a few years. More fall out from t...

One for the oldies
Does anyone on here know where the following teams played their home matches in the 1940s and 1950s? Chelsea Mariners St Frideswides (possibly somewhere in Osney) Banbury Northern Aluminium Company (BNAC) Metal & Produce Recovery Depot (MPRD) (ground was somewhere in Cowley) RNSM (and what does ...

Re: Appleton IN
I really don't see how this is being used as a stick to beat Eales with Hmm, really? We have/had a manager who has stated that he wants to prove himself as a manager at the highest level. Over the past two seasons he has won promotion and then gone on to finish within touching distance of the play-...

Re: Appleton IN
I think Dan and Shoobedoo are being a bit harsh. Let's say, for the sake of argument, that Appleton is on £200k at Oxford, on a rolling one year contract; and he's been offered £500k at Leicester on a three year deal. It's very easy to post on internet forums about lack of ambition or loyalty, but ...

Re: The Runners and Riders...
His achievements with a very low budget with Exeter have been impressive. He knows the League like the back of his hand. His sides play good football, and he has on several occasions produced teams that have outplayed us with our rather larger playing budget. He's been at Exeter for a long time, sug...
Fixtures
Last year the fixture computer was relatively kind to us.
This year it hates us.
Opening day away, last day away, Boxing Day away. Only slight compensation is New Year at home.

First choice should be Paul Tisdale.
Second choice should be Paul Tisdale.
Third choice should be Paul Tisdale.

Re: New signings
Lindsay has turned us down according to Twitter.
I think that maybe tells us MApp is on his way to Leicester.

Re: Where are they now?
I think Dunkley was overrated coming up from the back. The stats show he only scored 3 goals last season, which is hardly prolific even for a centre back. He probably scored as many own goals in that period, and he gave away a lot of penalties.

Re: Where are they now?
Not too disappointed at losing Dunks. Good in the air, not so good on the ground, and seemed to have at least one potentially catastrophic error per game. I prefer Nelson and Raglan, and I hope we can sign the latter.

Re: (Comings and) goings
Skarz was a very committed player and always gave his all. That is always welcomed by fans and I'm no different on that score. However, I do think he had found his level in our League 2 promotion team. He will no doubt be a useful defender for a lower table League 1, or upper table League 2 side. Si...
