....which now begs the question (or is this a separate thread?) as to whom you would start with - let's say away at Exeter on May 4th, assuming Duffy / Anaclet / ?!Hutchinson are fit......

I would agree with most of this, although I think the criticism of Martin Foster is a little harsh. He does cover a lot of ground, and force errors. There were a number of occasions yesterday when Zebroski / Foster / Hargreaves pressurised the Weymouth defence into poor distribution. At the back, I ...

I have only seen the Rushden and Aldeshot games recently, but Brevett gave away the free kick from which Rushden scored, and Johnson was (largely) responsible for the Aldershot goal. So, yes, it is a tough one. If anything, I feel Brevett has more fitness, but less commitment. Johnson worked hard at...

I was disappointed by today, too, but I believe that in September, October and November we quite often had luck on our side - to some extent, this run is something of an adjustment. What does matter is whether we preserve the self-belief - that's the difference between bouncing back and slumping int...

Definitely 3-0 - a memorable day for me too, as the exhaust fell off my sister's Escort on the M62 on the way home. I certainly remember how old-fashioned the ground seemed.

I entirely agree with this assessment, about Basham in particular. He did make a difference, partly because Duffy had been so poor in the air this afternoon. I would imagine Jim Smith really knows that Basham should start, but it's not so easy to judge whom with......

8th November 1969, when I was ten. We beat Carlisle 1-0, and I was hooked. My family didn't do sport, and so I went with a friend's dad. I then went a few times whilst at school (on the bus from Abingdon with friends - haven't times changed?), and then nearly got beaten up by Hull City fans on the w...

Half of my point is that in Chris Tardif, I had always thought we had a very good keeper for a (somewhat) higher level. If memory serves me right, in 2004 -5 he was not only fans' player of the year, but 'Goalkeeper of Div 2' or somesuch. When Billy joined us, he was clearly Talbot's man and there w...

I agree with most of that, although I think you are kind to Turley, and harsh on Hargreaves. I'm not quite sure what Tardiff needs to do to get an outing. Turley's judgement doesn't look solid to me, as demonstrated in the second minute when FGR nearly took the lead. Hargreaves hasn't got much class...

I thought Pettefer was outstanding yesterday - predicted their passes, got everywhere, made some excellent runs.

My gripes - too much space for their players in our box on a few occasions (or can we rely on the inability to finish in the Conference?), and Quinn's distribution.

Yes, one of the few Oxford players whose behaviour caused embarrassment. Not always a pleasure to watch, IMHO.

I hope my memories of our performance at Brunton Park last season are not too relevant here. We lost 2-1, to the side which, of course, both won the league, and the Conference the previous season. We were the better footballing side, and Basham was particularly good at holding the ball up. Problem w...

Although the players' press statements do not prove anything, I think one can say that if things are a lot better in the club, then this is what one would expect to see...

What makes the difference for me is the quality of the discussion - ie, whether people who comment on players have actually been to the match, whether those who comment on management issues have some understanding of the financial and organisational issues. Sorry to sound a bit elitist, but I get a ...
