Re: Stadium (again) - fans forum
Am I being really stupid here? Surely it's cheaper for us to buy our current stadium and finish it, than pay ourselves out of what ever contract we're in, borrow someone else's ground and pay rent on that, whilst also buying land and build a new stadium elsewhere? It seems, with talk of a new train ...

Re: Thank goodness that's all over
I'm sure Deano three times missed one when he had two penalties in a match.
I'm going to say:
Definitely:
Luton cup 1-1
Wimbledon 2-5
Maybe Bristol City 2-4?

Donation to Shelter paid this morning.
Nice doing business with you. Bloody relieved we stayed up too.

Thank goodness that's all over
Congratulations to the players, management and staff for getting us out of a bit of a pickle. Definitely not a season I'll remember with too much fondness, but after two wonderful seasons preceding it, we were always going to have a damp squib at some point. At least it didn't end in the disaster it...
Ivo
The worst signing of all time in terms of value for money? He's taken Eddie Hutchinson's crown surely? OK, he's not actually given us a points deduction, but to rock up, get injured in the first training session, eat up medical bills, have a couple of friendly fixtures arranged for him, and then get...

Re: Going Down??
Back to the 'Bus. I saw three of his four goals (Stoke, Brentford, Northampton), plus one in pre-season (Blythe). Anyone see all four (I missed Burnley away).

Re: Going Down??
I remember Paul Powell being on penalties that year, on his way to 13 goals from left back.

Re: Going Down??
"Steve Anthrobus' goals (all four of them)." Incorrect. Despite promising 20, the Bus got two goals. And two the next season. My favourite YF cover joke: Steve Anthrobus blames Oxford Mail typo for unrealistic fan expectations. "I will score 20 goals for Us this season" "I w...

Re: Going Down??
The year we stayed up at Cardiff's expense, I think it's the fewest points a team has ever stayed up with. Another interesting fact: We drew 1-all with Cardiff at Ninian Park, and none other than Matt Murphy scored possibly the greatest goal anyone never remembers, infinitely better than the wonder ...

Re: Going Down??
I saw this coming in September. I sent a friend a text before the Pompey home win saying I thought we were in trouble this season. We had an odd-squad: Some good players who were part of a great team who'd seen their mates leave and probably fancied a bit of that themselves; a few duff signings from...

Re: Posh Result!
Funny thing is, when you like at that team, on paper or on grass, it's not bad at all. Certainly not relegation fodder. I think Henry has been woefully underused. Every time I've seen him play this year, he's been our most creative player (small sample admittedly). I'd like to know his goals per min...

Re: Who do you want next?
We will never know whether Pep would have kept us up or taken us down. But I've been pretty consistent all season in saying we were in trouble. There was so little fight in the squad in matches where it mattered, or when the opposition set us to get in our faces. Once we got rumbled, we were always ...

Re: Who do you want next?
PS. I am terrified of this 'wow' factor. Oh for a Paul Cook, or a John Coleman, or Keith Hill right now. Give me someone who knows the league and will give us a bit of fight. We're going to get a name, who'll demand a huge salary, take us down, leave in September with a big pay off, leave us screwed...
