Fractious Park
Missed the previous game, again fortuitously given the result so I appreciate my luck at watching mostly the better results might be influencing my opinions but I thought this was a good performance. Until Bodin got sent off we were much the better team, forcing the game to be played in Pompey's hal...

Re: What happens now?!?
Didn't see the game, which was a blessing in the end. As for the Robinson rumours, I don't know what they are either but I'd venture to guess that they're made-up or vastly exaggerated. Or failing that, irrelevant to the actual team performance. Seems rather convenient they come at a time some fans ...
Charlton
Much more "normal" Oxford performance I thought. We looked consistently threatening going forward and typically also likely to concede. Back to the usual formation of 4-3-3 and getting closer to our first choice team - you'd think Taylor would start up front, Joseph on the wing and then He...

Re: Falling foul of Franchise
There's definitely the growing sense that Robinson's time is up, I'm not so sure. We've been through runs of form like this before, there's no reason we can't come out of it again. However a lot of the criticism is fair, what frustrates me is the bad starts to every season, whatever they do in pre-s...

Re: Poor start or more of the same?
I've seen most of each League game. Our poor starts to the season seem to be the norm, which is disappointing. Robinson certainly has a weakness for liking skillful, but fragile wingers and then playing them before they're fully match-fit (Browne last season, Murphy this) so they get injured again. ...

Moment of Truth
In case anyone isn't aware there's a good podcast about Rotherham and Oxford here - https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0cf9vkv Different to the usual behind the scenes stuff, more thoughtful. Robinson doesn't really come across any different to his media stuff he does with the club - i.e. emotional, ...

Re: Season predictions 2022/23
Possibly cheating making a prediction after the first game, but given there's still a month left of the transfer window.... I'm going for 5th. We are a similar team to last year but possibly a bit more mature and definitely more experienced in terms of players signed so far, hopefully that will make...

Re: Blown it (probably)
Biggest reason for the last 2 games is we're missing 2 of our key players - Moore and Brannagan - they, along with Taylor make up the spine of the team. Unlucky timing definitely, but likely to happen at some stage of the season. I'm not going to be too critical of the players/management though if w...

Re: Where will we finish?
Rotherham are good, but it would be incredible if they won all of their last 10 games! Likewise Wigan w10, d1, l1 over their last 12. You're possibly being a little pessimistic recordmeister.... Traditionally 74 points is enough to get into the play-offs, but only just and this season there's a fair...
Re: Joey
When my dad first took me to watch Oxford in the late 80s we were in the Oslo road seats sat next to an old fella who used to watch all the reserve games too, he used to talk about Joey and what a talent he could be. From the fans perspective Joey's career was a bit of a fairytale, hopefully from hi...

Re: Sheff special
Certainly were lucky, but Wednesday missed their chances and we got stronger as the game went on so at the same time it felt like we sort of deserved to win. I too saw the chat between Bodin and Winnall, although you'd hope a front post whipped in corner is not something they only come up with on th...

Re: Give Us A (Stratfield) Brake
It's been a while since I've had to think about this - does this mean that the plan is the club itself owns the land and stadium? This is the key part for me really, to avoid the mess we've been in at the Kassam. Admittedly I'm sure there was something similar when Kassam came in originally, so what...
Re: Progress
Taylor and/or Brannagan missing would give us a problem I think. Whether we can hang on to Brannagan until the end of the season is likely to be decisive in where we finish. Encouraging last couple of games, we were differently good in each of them. Overwhelmed Doncaster for the first half but lost ...
Sun'Lun
A relatively local game for me and my first trip to the Stadium of Light. Large ground, good location close to the city centre and the feel of a big club matchday. The away games at the likes of Altrincham and Droylsden feel a long time ago. Performance wise we were good-ish in the first half and fa...

Re: Wimbledone
Long and Ruffels too are/were pretty good defending/attacking set plays too. From what I saw on a dodgy stream, we looked a bit frantic, seemed to play the whole game like we were 1-0 down. Possibly because the team themselves know they're somewhat vulnerable from set plays. Entertaining to watch, b...
