Re: Where are they now?

Darren Purse appointed U23 manager at Cardiff City, having previously worked at Oxford United's academy. That means he has now played for and been part of the coaching staff at both clubs.

Re: Progress

Not sure what you mean by "not playing any recognised opposition yesterday"... If you were referring to the players they had missing , then let us not forget us getting a point from the Rotherham game No, I was referring to the fact that they're a Pariah Club who don't deserve to exist an...

Progress

Good to see Us gaining three points and moving up the Div 3 table despite not playing any recognised opposition yesterday. A weird but welcome glitch in the system, I suppose. How serious do we take this promotion challenge then? For me, I think we just lack the quality and the depth to get into the...

Re: Hoping history does not repeat itself

Bit worried about Saturday though. Beating Fleetwood at home when they're out of form and the manager's on the cusp of sacking is one thing (even if we're down to the bare bones); going to Rotherham will be different gravy entirely, and I fear they'll rip us a new one.

Any half-competent lawyer worth their salt can get round a covenant on a piece of land - especially if, as in this case, there wasn't a willing tenant anyway.

Takeover / stadium

What do we make of this news then?

New balance of ownership
New ambition (rise from Div 3 to Div 2 in two years)
New stadium?!?

Re: Where are they now?

I had a free Saturday today whilst visiting my in-laws in Dorset so went to watch Wimborne Town v Farnborough in the Southern Prem. Both Sam Deering and Ricky Holmes started for the visitors and absolutely bossed the game. Farnborough won’t be at that level for long - they have great quality through...

There's a short 'blog about it here, and the full article is here for those who can access it.

Putting the links in as much as a reminder to myself as anything else - one that requires a proper read!

First game of the season for me, yesterday, and what a disappointment it was. Such a good opportunity to settle ourselves and get an away win in front of a packed house, a vocal travelling support and against a very very average Cheltenham side. And for 45 mins, it looked on - we had them on toast i...

Re: Cambridge

There's no comparison between watching a match live in person and streaming/televising it. I would think that's the majority opinion for all football fans who actually go to matches. Quite so, my dear old thing. But of course it’s not the view of the suits at the Football League or the TV companies...

Re: Cambridge

Well it it was very frustrating for me NOT being able to watch a match for the first time in over a year. I was always very much in favour of the Saturday afternoon TV blackout before, but now that kick-offs are so spread out anyway, and plenty of people still don't think it's a very sensible idea ...

Re: “We need to act like a Championship club…”

I also think it's unrealistic to keep a player at the club who wants to move. Legally you'd be within your rights, but in reality it'd sour the mood in the dressing room and send the wrong message out to future signings about how we treat players. We've made a success in recent years out of buying p...

Re: Fishy Gills

Is it... on? I mean, I know teams around us have games in hand but we are hitting form at exactly the right time. And today’s result was the sort that makes you think it could be Your Year™. Imagine the flipping limbs (as I believe the youth call it) if there had been a crowd in today. And oh how I ...
