Re: Liam Managing

No idea how accurate this is, but according to the other site, the club had a relegation get-out clause for Manning last season, and then he was on a rolling one year. Once BCFC came sniffing, was it too late to try and offer him a better contract? If so, not surprising he took a move up a league. S...

Re: Liam Managing

Well I hadn't expected Manning to jump ship quite so soon into his time with us. About eight months? OK he has us up at the top of the table, but obviously he must tick all the right boxes for what Bristol City are looking for. But normally I'd expect a club to want to see a season or two track reco...

Re: WigPool

Apart from Pompey drawing, results last night weren't in our favour, with Barnsley, Bolton, Peterborough and Blackpool all winning. Add in Derby and Lincoln, and that's six of the current top nine teams winning, two drawing, and only us losing. After getting excited about our top two position with a...

Re: Rovers

Only four games in League 1 at the weekend.
Blackpool and Orient picking up a bit of form with wins.
Stevenage lost.

Blackpool likely to be up there or abouts at end of season, let's hope we don't get overwhelmed like in the play-offs a few years back.

Re: Rovers

Good to get a win against Rovers and a decent crowd from them for a 12:30 kick-off. Are they the team we have played most in the last 10 years or so? Possibly Shrewsbury or Portsmouth. Our two sendings off were disappointing, but luckily they aren't players in our starting 11. Some of our missed cha...

Re: Grecian ten thousand (and twenty two)

Colin's analysis in the fans view on the main RageOnline page says the supporters trust has nearly £1M in the bank, which seems an extraordinary amount of money to have saved up.

Re: Fleetwood Pilley-ed

Good to read a first hand report. I ended up following the game on X (Twitter) where an Oxford fan uploaded each of the goals. So did the goals and scoreline flatter us if you say we didn't start that well? Obviously it's difficult to judge based on just the goals, but it seems a fundamental change ...

Re: Veil of tears

I didn't go due to train strikes and also the A3/M25 junction roadworks. It took me 2 1/4 hours on Friday to drive this route to Oxford for a 70 mile journey. Anyway, I tend to agree this will be a tight league, but should be a bit easier to get into the top seven. League 1 has lost the big boys of ...

Re: "Rolls Royce" performance

A great result at Barnsley which I hadn't expected after their 7-0 opening day win, and our history at Oakwell. I hadn't planned on going as none of my usual group were going, and the train tickets were ridiculously expensive. Then when train strikes were announced for the next two home games, I dec...

Quite a few ex-Oxford players, ex-managers, an ex-assistant manager, and the father of a current player get a mention in this recall of Sunderland's start to the 1993/94 season. https://rokerreport.sbnation.com/2023/8/14/23824219/on-this-day-14th-august-1993-sunderland-butchered-at-derby-county-on-o...
