Crap performance, management team in denial, ploughed field for a pitch and a partial floodlight failure (a full one would have done us all a favour).
One word sums it all up:
Tinpot.
We'll fit in just fine in the Conference.

Re: Have I Got Old News For You
Dan, that is the first thing I've read relating to Oxford United that has genuinely made me laugh out loud (and not in a "you've got to laugh otherwise you'd cry" way) for years. Thank you.
I miss fanzines.

Re: Up for the Cup
Nah. Chucking away a 2-0 aggregate lead against Exeter in the playoff semi in 2007 made me feel worse. The final realisation that a) Jim Smith really had lost the plot, and b) we were going to be in that poxy league for some time to come. If anything, that hurt even more than Lorient sending us down...

Re: PLAYERS WE NEED TO GET RID O F AND QUICK
I realise football chat is subjective but there's a lot of utter hooey on this thread (so here's my own bollox to add to it). Clarke - so as soon as someone has a bad patch of form it's OK to start clamouring for their replacements? That would mean every team in the country entirely replacing their ...

Re: Managerial Merry-go-round
Neil Adams resigns as manager of Norwich City, which presumably knocks MAPP up another place. Mike Phelan in temporary charge.

Re: The U's v Cheltenham Town
I thought Dunkley did alright too - commanding in the air and some very good tackling. On the other hand Whing had an absolute shocker and Ruffles was ineffective at best. I fail to see why those two were picked to start over Collins and Rose. Meades did what he could but was obviously out of positi...

Re: Up for the Cup
Was there, Jerome, and brought a Brighton-supporting friend with me who said we played more coherent football than they do (even if that is damning with faint praise right now). Agree with what most others have said, we have to turn our possession and chances into more goals. Dare I say we missed Ty...

Re: Why? Combe
I give grudging respect to our opponents today; their spell of pressure after the break was as good as anything I've seen from a visiting team in the last few seasons and better teams than us would have cracked under it. That said, our inability to cope with a side that close down quickly, and the l...

Re: WEST BROM away
Such an enjoyable night (even though I ended up stranded in Birmingham having missed my last train home after the pens). Went hoping to avoid a drubbing, and in fairness, WBA should have buried us in the first half but for some extremely profligate finishing and some last-ditch defending. However th...

Re: Worst start to the league since...
First game of the season for me and I took far more positives than negatives from it. I've not seen an Oxford side dominate a first half like that for years. We could easily have been at least two up by half time with a bit more luck (particularly with the penalty which looked nailed-on to me). Then...

Does this mean we can actually sign some players now???
