Re: Who do you want next?

Does Chrissy Allen have the contacts and gravitas to sign decent League 1 players, let alone Championship players looking longer term? He hasn't played the game recently, or coached at first team level for long enough yet, and I would hate to see it fail with him ending up being sacked. A couple mor...

Re: When do we start panicking?

That really was a miserable showing against a shit side that we made look slightly less shit. It was the sort of result and more importantly performance that could cost the club support, and our home attendances are dropping. We have too many players who are mediocre at this level and do not fight f...

Re: No more Payne

Interesting question that might support this argument. Does any Championship club, that doesn't benefit from parachute payments, make a profit? If you go to slide 7 in the link, for 2013/14 only three clubs made a profit in the Championship: Blackpool, Wigan, Yeovil So Wigan and Blackpool presumabl...

Re: No more Payne

I don't see the point of bankrolling and potentially bankrupting the club just to survive in the Championship. I would rather the club kept largely within its affordability, and if that means we bounce between the Championship and League 1, so be it. I think there are several aspects to this. 1 - t...

Re: Stadium matters

If Kassam had wanted to do right by OUFC, he didn't have to extract the profits of The Manor and he has had 17 years during which time he could have sold the stadium to a community group. His latest statement is highly contradictory. On the one hand he says he won't do anything unless it is in the i...

No more Payne

Recalled by Huddersfield apparently.

Talented player, but Pep clearly didn't want to play him in behind a front 2, and none of our strikers are good enough to play the lone front man role.

Also linked with Man City youngster Buckley-Ricketts, on a loan deal:- http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/01/11/por-city-starlet-buckley-ricketts-set-for-oxford-loan/ Now confirmed . Sounds like a very welcome and much-needed injection of pace into the squad. My one question would be whether he'll be s...

Re: Stadium matters

This just confirms to me what I already thought. Bob Price is badly out of his depth and doesn't understand commercial negotiations. Price has had plenty of opportunities over the years to help OUFC, but has singularly failed to do so, to the point of obstruction of the development of the club in my...

Re: Blackpool - a few questions

Doing our own side down is a typical trait of Oxford fans, and probably the wider football supporter base. Eastwood was clearly MoM. As usual, the sponsors, possibly not knowing who is who, just voted for the goal scorer. I felt both sides were poor in all areas, although we have improved at the bac...

Re: When do we start panicking?

Before panicking, let's look at the facts. Before the season began, the majority of us felt that given the late change in manager, and loss of several of our best players to keep Eales' bank manager happy, mid-table obscurity was what we should expect - provided we did not get sucked into a relegati...

Re: The longest pier you'll ever see

Following on from Ty's comments about Thomas, I think things would be improved if we played Obika alongside Thomas, so if we have to, or want to, occasionally play the long ball for variation or for a quick counter, then the ball has a much better chance of sticking than coming straight back. Playin...

Re: Rovers Return

Tippy tappy around the edge of our own penalty area for ages until the opponents close us down, we lose the ball in a dangerous area and look like conceding every time. Repeat at will. That's pretty much a summary of the game. Very similar to the first few weeks of MApp. The only player that earned ...

Re: Doom and Gloom

We have been very poor of late, but then we were excellent earlier in the season. These are simply the signs of a new manager implementing new ideas. This will be an up and down season for sure, as are most seasons, but even more so on change of manager. Add into that the injuries, which we've been ...
