Re: Argyle trial
That was my first game for a while (whose idea was it to get a job that meant working on most Saturdays?) and I pretty much agree with everything KY said in his first post. The only thing I would add to his comments would be that Ricardinho was excellent when he came on and he should be back ...

Re: U's v Gills
I got to see half of the game on Saturday (how typical that all the goals came after I left); sitting in the SSL about half way between the halfway line and the East Stand, I can only concur about Ricardinho's quality. His awareness of what's going on around him, his ability to create and move into ...

Re: Cheltenham
When playing a 4-2-3-1 you need to have the left and right attacking midfielders maintain wide positions so the two defensive midfielders have more of an outlet than just the full backs or the 10. The full backs also need to be ready to support the wide midfielders. None of that happened last night ...

Re: The Runners and Riders...
Not sure how realistic it is, but I'd love to see Paul Simpson back at Oxford. Having just won the U20 world cup for England it's clear he has a knack of getting the best out of youngsters so he'd be a good fit for our model. I concede his previous league management record is patchy but so was Mapp'...

Re: Appleton IN
What Dan said. I would have had no issues with him leaving to manage a Championship / Lower Prem side. However I hope that this move is as successful as when he left Blackpool in the lurch. Leopards clearly don't change their spots.
I am worried about the forthcoming season.

I don't have a slice of humble pie but I do have a slightly stale blueberry muffin which I will consume in a contritional way as a mark of my repentance for being the third contributor to this thread. The last two seasons have been a joy to watch (at least when I've been able to watch - working on S...

Re: Football League Trophy
First time I've come away from Wembley genuinely disappointed with an Oxford performance. Whether it's the number of games we've played this season, or just too many key players simply having an off day, we were just *miles* off the team we know we can be. I think tactically we got it wrong too; Hem...

Re: Lies, damned lies and Millwall
Two things: 1 - our midfielders and fullbacks have to create more space for Marv to work in. Our goal came from having isolated one of Millwall's enormous centreback one-to-one with him - the only time Marv was able to get behind them (more incisiveness in general in attack would be nice). 2 - While...

Re: Covvy break
Well that wasn't very good. First time I've seen us in the flesh for a while, and it seems like the team is low on confidence and morale. We looked like the team at the bottom of the league, not Coventry. First half was absolutely dreadful. Coventry had far too much space in which to play, we never ...

Re: U's v Seagulls
OK I'll start then! I thought that this was a hugely entertaining game that deserved a better audience (no blame for this directed at Brighton fans who sold most of their tickets). I've seen Brighton a few times over the last couple of seasons and Hughton is doing a great job and has them well organ...

Re: Something smells fishy
A long way to go for such a disappointing display. Fleetwood were comfortably the better side; stronger, better organised and more streetwise, and in their no. 10 (Ball) they had the only player on show who looked capable of changing the game. I thought he looked the best player on the pitch in the ...

Re: Chedsterfield
Not much to add to what's already been said above; I said to the missus before the game I'd be happy with a point - and bearing in mind what happened to our defence during the game, I am! Lots of reasons to be optimistic based on what I saw on Saturday (especially Maguire, Taylor, Nelson and I enjoy...

Come on you Yellows - let's do this thing!
(and yes, I'm nervous - I have that Peterborough (h) 1996 half-time feeling, and the game hasn't even started yet!
