Re: Leigh-thal

I get the impression Liam Manning might be the dullest man to sit next to at a dinner party on earth, but after the hot-headed, knee-jerk, 'get me on Sky Sports News at all costs' nonsense of the previous few years, this comes as a blessed relief. Probably to the players too. Amen to that. We've al...

Re: Grecian ten thousand (and twenty two)

Sorry, crossed wires - I thought it was a reference to what OUR supporters' trust has in the bank!

Re: Grecian ten thousand (and twenty two)

Colin's analysis in the fans view on the main RageOnline page says the supporters trust has nearly £1M in the bank, which seems an extraordinary amount of money to have saved up. But equally is a drop in the ocean if the Trust ever wanted to have a meaningful involvement in the running of the club....

Re: Give Us A (Stratfield) Brake

In as far as I could hear the discussion it was argued that (a) it would be easier to enforce covenants if it were a lease not freehold and (b) there was an argument that it protected the club from a separation of the club and the ground owner. It caused a lengthy and slightly worrying delay while ...

Re: Give Us A (Stratfield) Brake

Not sure of the answer to that, Bob, but I have a related question - does anyone know why this is a lease of the land and not (as I had thought was going to be the case) the sale of the land?

Re: "Rolls Royce" performance

Well that was most impressive today. Granted, Barnsley were nowhere near as good as I expected them to be, and granted we got the run of the ball and rode our luck at times. Barnsley had two good chances to equalise and fluffed their lines, but equally we might’ve been 3-0 up by half-time. In essenc...

Re: "Rolls Royce" performance

Still need a further striker and left back though (we're one defensive injury away from having to re-jig the entire back line). Yup, that's the big caveat currently. But it's a nice position in which to find ourselves with a chunk of the window still to go, and owners at the helm who seem to be bac...

Agree with all of that.

Anyone from this board planning on going to Barnsley?

Re: OUFC Youth - Where are they now

Max Harris expected to return to Cheltenham Town. https://www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/former-oxford-united-goalkeeper-max-8480782 Saw him play on Saturday for them in a pre-season friendly at Weston-super-Mare. There was another Oxford fan there too, as I saw their sh...

Re: Where are they now?

Gary Waddock appointed assistant coach at Walsall. What a weird time that was when he was at Ox - I think I’ve had holidays that lasted longer than his tenure.

Signings

Not a dickie bird on here about three excellent signings this week? Come on, folks... Ruben Rodrigues, Jordan Thorniley and Josh McEachran are a big statement of intent, I think we've done really well there. Combined with some of the talent we've already got, and with Manning's pragmatic approach, I...

Re: Give Us A (Stratfield) Brake

I wonder whether we'd consider going down the road of a fans' bond like AFC Wimbledon did to get themselves back to Plough Lane - the club get to borrow at an interest rate that's slightly below market rate, and fans get to invest savings at a rate that's better than any high-street account. Everyon...

Re: ST renewals

My days of having a ST are long gone due to geography and family factors, but the pricing struck me as reasonable enough for Third Division football in this day and age. Less convinced by the awful "What is your why" strapline which is sub-Apprentice levels of marketing b*llocks.

Re: Give Us A (Stratfield) Brake

So, Kidlington residents voted two-to-one AGAINST the stadium proposition . Non-binding vote, low turnout, little time for debate and information - but that's local politics for you, and I would argue that those crying foul about the poll or trying to spin that the non-voters are sympathetic to the ...
