I was just reading about the Forest Green manager, Jim Harvey, who has turned them into a good team, and was the guy who brought Morecambe through (even if McIlroy eventually took them into the league). He's the kind of manager we could do with - sounds like he believes in good football and also for...

Yeah, this thread has put me off Patto that bit more. Nigel Clough sounds a great choice, but doubt he'd want it.

Yeah, I felt really sorry for Yemi last night. He played really well, never stopped trying, and must wonder what the hell was going on around him.

Next manager?

Let's allow ourselves a pleasant fantasy for a second where JS the director realises that JS the manager is no longer up to the job, and thus looks for a new manager. Any thoughts or recommendations? Is Patterson the man for the job? I thought he was roughly treated when Merry came in, but his assoc...

Well Jim says he won't quit as manager : &quotIf we're bottom of the league and six points adrift you might have a point.&quot Hmm, so that's how badly we'd have to be doing before you, a director of the club, feel that the management is utterly failing? Lovely. Apparently you could also &am...

Well I have previously posited the suggestion that if we'd started our own club back in the pre-Kassam crisis days, we could well have climbed most of the way back up to where we are by now. I think this could be close to the end now though. Our gates will start to plunge. We're already losing money...

The boys were back in town...

...and two of them scored against us... That was abysmal. Even at 3-0 I was worried, knowing how we'd capitulated under pressure before. Then at 3-1 it became utterly obvious we needed a change, especially to strengthen midfield, and of course we all knew good old reactive Jim would wait til another...

Well, they've had a couple of promotions in the last three or four seasons, so they're on the way back.

Well, Bradford City have slipped from top flight to Division 4 strugglers in 6 or 7 years. They may yet usurp us as best supported club in the conference next season.

Well I certainly don't think they should change to 4-4-2 unless they've practised it. If he just suddenly switched the players to any new formation, it could be disastrous, even if the formation itself made sense in the long term. And I agree that a match against one of the top sides might be an unw...

Just noticed another odd quote post-Droylsden, this time from Jim Smith: &quotIf we had won on Saturday we'd have been a couple of points off the play-offs&quot Um, after Saturday's matches, the bottom side in the play-off zone had 27 points. We would have had 23 had we beaten Droylsden. A &...

Jim seems to believe in youngsters as long as they are not our own. I hope this guy does well though, obviously, though as said above chance creation will be at a premium until something is done about the formation/midfield.

Well I figure we miss Hargreaves to some degree. He is far better than the likes of Hutchison or Trainer. But I just find it difficult to believe we have a better squad (note squad implies that we can deal with injuries - not just talking 1st eleven here), given that our results are so much worse. M...

I think our current squad is a lot stronger then last years and our starting 11 is also better. Hmm, not sure there's much evidence in favour of this... 5-3-2 didn’t work last year, what did work was Jim switching to 4-4-2 at half time and halfway through the season to enable us to finish 2nd in a ...
