Re: Where are they now?
With Oxford not playing legitimate opposition yesterday, I went to watch Bristol City against Norwich. Mark Sykes stood out for the home side, scoring and being their main creative outlet, whilst Rob Atkinson had an accomplished game in defence, keeping Teemu Pukki in his pocket throughout. I mentio...
Re: Heroes
With so many squad changes over the last few seasons, does OUFC even have such heroes anymore? I'd suggest that Cameron Branagan is a worthy contender. He's done wonderfully for us since he came, has a talismanic presence on the pitch, turned down a move to a club higher up the leagues because he w...

Re: Give Us A (Stratfield) Brake
A cautionary tale for anyone naive enough to think that things move quickly and easily with local authorities. Today's Oxford Mail declares that the Cowley Branch Line (which would include a station to serve the Science Park and the Kas Stad) is one step closer to completion after winning the backin...

Re: Trouble Brewing
Agree with all of that, Isaac, except for this bit: For all the fair criticism of Robinson failing to build a balanced squad, it's not often mentioned that he regularly has to sell his best players at the same time (off the top of my head ... Ledson, Fosu, Baptiste, Dickie, Whyte, McNally, Atkinson)...

Re: Give Us A (Stratfield) Brake
Strong agree with OY. Oxford United Football Club do not benefit from commercial revenues at their current ground, they won't be benefiting from them at the new one. The best-case scenario is that there are commercial revenues to be had at The Triangle and the owners plough back some of them into th...

Re: Where are they now?
Got all excited this morning when I heard on the Today programme that Paul Tait is part of the interim management team at Everton - but it was the Crewe and Bristol Rovers one and not our one. Not even sure it warrants a post, but I found it interesting at least!
Re: Gonners
Hard to disagree with this analysis which opens the match report in today's Guardian : As third-round ties go this went by the numbers. Oxford United gave Arsenal a game for an hour, without threatening to make things more interesting than that, and could draw on enough positives to hope for a brigh...

Re: All over bar the shouting
I think we’re safe from relegation but nowhere near close enough - even with a brilliant window - to be a realistic playoff shot. 15th-18th, that sort of season.
You?

All over bar the shouting
Feels like the season has already petered out, doesn’t it? Good enough to beat Charlton but not good enough to beat Exeter a few days later. A bang-average mid-table season. Thank god for the Arsenal game or we’d literally have no meaningful games until August. Or am I being unfair? Maybe a good tra...

Sheffuc*ing Frozen Until About Wednesday
Christ that was cold. My first visit to Hillsborough. What a ground. Really lived up to expectations, and well worth the trip. And despite appearances, the game was an engaging spectacle, with some excellent chances for both sides and some real quality on display - albeit alongside some shocking mom...

Re: Give Us A (Stratfield) Brake
Yeah, any major development that close would see a sizeable Section 106 contribution towards improving local amenities - ie, the developer would be required to make a significant financial contribution which the council would likely earmark for nearby community / youth sports facilities given the ci...

Re: Give Us A (Stratfield) Brake
What do we make of yesterday's news and today's statement then? All feels a bit depressing to me. The new site is much smaller, and it's hard to see how the Board can develop all the ancillary facilities around the stadium that they presumably need in order for the whole thing to wash its face finan...

Re: When Posh Comes to Shove
I was at a different game on Saturday, but I listened to Radio Oxford's post-match analysis and KR's interview, and it was all very gloomy. Blaming referees and injuries may well be fair, but how long will it wash with the Board if results don't pick up? As Dr Bob says, two very tricky away trips no...

Re: Have I Got Old News For You
Weirdly, I spent half an hour in the middle of the night on Thursday trying to stave off insomnia by unsuccessfully seeking to recall the name of the ineffective striker we signed from Aldershot during the relegation season to the conference, who turned out to be utter sh*t. The next day, scrolling ...

Re: What happens now?!?
Not sure how many of you listen to the consistently-excellent Fence End podcast, but in their latest episode the consensus seemed to be that KR has enough credit in the bank that if he's saying the poor form is due to injuries, we should wait until the key injured players are back before we judge hi...
