Re: OxVox. Remember them?

There must be someone who takes this kind of view that is prepared to stand for the board of OxVox. I wish I could, but living in Manchester doesn't really help... I agree, but I think it's been the view of most if not all of the current committee, and the last couple of years its work has principa...

Re: OxVox - Heritage Project Extension 'Stadium Signage'

The counter argument to your point about not using a quorum level, is that perhaps more people would vote if they deemed a project worth voting for. Maybe therefore the problem isn't lack of voting, but lack of appeal of something to vote for or against. I am sure that if you asked people to vote f...

Re: OxVox - Heritage Project Extension 'Stadium Signage'

I don't agree with your first point Kairdiff. Polling is not sampling and voting for or against use of OxVox funds is not a first past the post political system. You cannot assume that those who did not vote would have voted in the same way as those who did. You should assume abstentions from those...

I still don't think it is the right thing for OxVox to be spending money on, but there are obviously some that do.

Out of interest, how many respondents were there to that survey?
90 members for that one GY.

Re: OxVox - Heritage Project Extension 'Stadium Signage'

It was a couple of years ago actually BB. Time flies when you're having fun sorting this out. The question was: 'Installing club logos on the exterior of the stands has been costed at £600, including VAT. Would you support trust funds being used to cover this cost of the logos?' Yes/No/Don't Mind (R...

maybe, and people at the club are paid to make an unemotional assessment about the value of players, but i find it hard to look at this unemotionally this evening. really sad there wasn't a way to make this work for both him and Us. an absolute talisman for Us in our promotion season. in terms of fo...

Re: Possible league reform

It's all very well wanting to preserve everything in a sepia tinged nostalgiac memory of the 1980s, but the costs of running a football club these days mean only a few in the whole football league will have broken even in the past few years, and so owners have to look at all ways of bringing in rev...

Re: Matchday pub/Priory survey

I filled it in, suggesting that if the pub building itself would be too expensive to run on a day to day basis, then perhaps we could bring back what I thought was the best part of it during matchdays - the marquee and outside area that served food and real ale out of barrels? For those that have b...

Re: Matchday pub/Priory survey

Matt: Is it true that Kassam owns The Priory (as per intro. to the survey)? I thought Oxfordshire CC or Oxford City Council owned it, and Kassam has it on a long lease (so that he is then able to lease it out in turn). No, you're quite right Old Abingdonian. Thanks for pointing out the mistake, I'v...

Matchday pub/Priory survey

A number of OxVox members have raised the issue of the Priory's absence last season, and its effect on their enjoyment of home matchdays. OxVox members will have just had thissurvey sent to them. It aims to explore what they think about the issue, but we are keen to have an understanding of the impo...

Re: Asset of Community Value Tribunal Decision - Monday 12 M

Happy to be labelled as stupid but I still can’t see the point of this cunning plan to any of the parties involved other than trying to introduce a possible delaying process that will simply run parallel to the lengthy planning permission process. The public quotes from Crofton-Briggs could just as...

Re: Should the fans take the blame?

Q1. Define “good wedge”. i.e. what is Oxford United as a club really worth without a ground? Q2. How much money do you reckon it would take to buy the club and the whole of the surrounding owned/leased/franchised areas and doing a total buy out from Firoka? Q3. Do you think that there is no consort...
