Re: New Years Eve in Cardiff

I live in Cardiff and can assure you it's a good night out. Cardiff Bay is much classier than the city centre, but more pricey. Town will be very good but very busy on New Year's Eve, so be sure to book tickets in advance if you want a night out at anywhere reasonable. If you're staying in Cardiff a...

Re: Homophobia

RecordMeister - a considered post, but with respect I think you've missed the point slightly. No-one is suggesting positive discrimination - but I think if OUFC has a gay player (which is statistically likely), they'll be far less likely to feel comfortable in coming out because of the sorts of atti...

Re: Homophobia

I guess we shall never really know until someone sticks their head above the parapet and comes out, but I wonder what further changes need to be made to the footballing environment before that someone feels ready to do so? Statistically, of course, there are likely to be a couple of gay players wit...

Re: Homophobia

Kernow - yes, you're quite right to haul me up on my double-standards viz my Tim Henman comments, and I shall consider my wrist well and truly smacked. In my defence, I think there is a qualitative difference between calling people names based on characteristics over which they have no control (gend...

Re: Homophobia

What a thoroughly depressing read that thread was. I had always assumed Oxford United had a more sophisticated and mature breed of fan - but perhaps that's what happens when one only reads and posts on this forum. Some of the horeshit being spouted at The Other Place on this topic was just mind-blow...

Re: Nerdy tecchy question

I think the question is, "is there a mobile optimised app?" similar to proboards app, tapatalk etc. Yes, that's what I'm basically asking. I did download ForumRunner and another app (can't remember the name), but neither allowed me to view this forum. Someone on here must use an app to br...

Nerdy tecchy question

For those of you who browse this forum (and other fora) using a iPhone, what apps would you recommend for easy viewing? Am getting weary of browsing via Safari - it's especially hard work when posting. I've tried a few apps, but not all of them seem able to display this particular board (which is th...

Re: Club Crests...

Seems appropriate that the bottom of Bolton's new crest looks like the old Endsleigh League logo...

As for the general question, it's a waste of time and money. Saying that, we should revert back to the intimidating Ox head logo and then never change it again.

Re: Final Squad

Personally, a better gamble in my eyes would have been to have a proper trawl of the lower league to try to find the next Dwight Gayle. They do exist, but we never seem to find them. That, for me, is the nub of the matter. Look at our promotion-winning squad. There were no big names in there, and v...

Re: Have I Got Old News For You

Hang on KY, I wouldn't dream of calling him any of the names you have used but I now appear guilty by association because you've listed them below a quote of mine. Perhaps I'm too sensitive? Well, it was you who likened his support for OUFC to that of a Sw*ndon fan, to be fair. It's true that the s...

Re: Have I Got Old News For You

On BBC Radio Five Live's risible '6-love-6' programme last night, Tim Henman was asked if he supported a football team and said he was an OUFC fan. However, he disastrously ruined this by saying that we won the Milk Cup (kudos for getting the name right) in 1983, and saying the team included Dean S...
