Re: Ten games to go
Three observations: 1) The pitch is indeed awful. I'd love to know what has been done/said behind the scenes to ensure we don't have the same problem next year. 2) I thought Hoban looked good - excellent positional play, excellent work-rate, strong and combative. I think if he gets a goal, plenty mo...

Re: OxVox AGM: this Saturday
I'm afraid that for me, Mark's interview with Jerome just showed that he (Mark) doesn't really understand the economics or planning situation of either the Kassam Stadium or Water Eaton. Considering the amount of time and effort Mark has put in on this issue, I would suggest that he actually unders...

Re: Where are they now?
Happy birthday Joey Beauchamp - 44 today. Only spotted it because I looked up his Wikipedia entry after re-watching the 1997/98 season video whilst doing some ironing this afternoon (yes, I am that cool). He got 19 goals that season from midfield , many of them absolute beauties, in a team blighted ...

Re: Pay Up Pompey
stewards seemed overzealous again, pulling several people out of the queue for no good reason (other than having been to a pub), not staggering drunk. i tried videoing one pair of stewards 302 and another (outside the ground) to make sure the fan didn't "fall over", they came across start...

Re: Consistency
...we will say goodbye to players who no doubt have relegation release clauses, we will need to replace them with a different sort of DNA. We will have to keep Andy Whing . A good line, and it made me laugh, but I think you're being harsh in Whingy. A player like him has a place in a side, provided...

Re: TRANSFERS...
I suggest that, if he does ever play for us again, Campbell is given the nickname of Schrödinger's Yellow Cat, seeing as he has managed to be both an Oxford player and not an Oxford player simultaneously.Jimski wrote:Players come, players go. Some players both come and go at the same time.

http://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/local-football/non-league/fa-clear-up-campbell-contract-confusion-as-oxford-loan-striker-to-torquay-1-7111468 The FA make it sound quite simple so not sure how the two clubs got themselves in such a mess over it? Reading that, it sounds like we've really shafted ...

George Baldock signs on loan from Franchise FC.
What is Appleton doing? One can only assume his strategy is "If I throw enough Skoda parts against a wall, eventually they'll turn into a Ferrari".

Re: U's v Exeter City
"A draw that feels like a victory". Does it? I nearly threw up when I heard MApp come out with that. Even if he thinks it - even if WE think it - as a manager under pressure he shouldn't be so bloody foolish as to say it. His whole interview sounded deluded. I really worry about where we'...

Re: U's v Exeter City
...if Appleton does fail is it his fault, or that of the project in general? It'd be his fault. Let's be clear - Appleton has had more backing than most OUFC managers of the recent past. He inherited a tiny squad, granted, but there were/are some talented players in there (Clarke, Wright, Rose). He...

Re: #together
Sound the klaxon, Mr Eales: I HAVE A REASON TO BE POSITIVE! Whilst rootling through some papers earlier, I found a betting slip from August. With remarkable prescience, it appears I put a score on us getting relegated - at 12/1! At least if this season does all go wrong, I can get a decent case of w...
Re: #together
Completely agree with what KY and Dan have said above. Two excellent posts, and I will try to not repeat points which have already been well articulated. What stood out to me today was a manager making his side into LESS than the sum of its parts - which tells its own story. There were a few very cr...
Re: #together
What do you want [Eales] to say? 'Appy wil be shot by firing squad at the end of the Exeter game if we don't win both matches?' As calls to arms go I actually thought it was quite good. Had more substance than many of the depressing corporate missives that I read. Then I genuinely pity you. It was ...
Re: #together
I notice you didn't respond to my point - which was a fair one, so not sure why your reference to 'biting'. As for this... What is actually wrong with [Eales'] message? ...the point is that listing a load of abstract nouns ("passion, commitment, enthusiasm, loyalty, fairness, trust" etc) i...
