Re: Return of the Macc

On the basis that the sign of a good team is the results they get when they play badly, then we must be one of the best in the country!

Out of interest, I don't think any of the current first XI played in the Conference days, did they? Maybe a case of underestimating them and no preparing enough.

Re: Hands up!

Oxford will provide the next challenge in Zouma’s recovery, a battle against the hardened pros from English football’s lower leagues in a clash the visitors are desperate to win in order to seal their progress from the group stage I'd prefer: The 'hardened pros' who are 'desperate to win' will in f...

Re: NEW SIGNINGS

United capture former Plymouth Argyle captain Curtis Nelson who has played 246 games for the Greens and is still only 23. Which means we could be saddled with a pretty heavy compensation bill if it goes to tribunal - apparently we haven't managed to agree a sum with Argyle yet. Quite a coup to get ...

Lies, damned lies and Millwall

Code: Select all

                  Oxford Millwall
Possession -------- 64% ----- 36%
Shots ------------- 12 ------- 7
Shots on Target --- 5 ------- 3
Corners ----------- 9 ------- 2
Fouls ------------- 22 ------ 11
With stats like that, we must have absolutely tonked them, right?

Re: Stadium matters

My meaning was the Asset of Community Value provision, which isn't exactly a bar to sale, but does devalue the property somewhat for private sale.

...ex U Phil Wilson, 34 is between the sticks. The first touch of his professional career was a penalty save, after Richard Knight got sent off against Bristol Rovers in 2001, and then earned a yellow conceding another penalty in the same game. Now let me just put that horror season back in its box.

Re: Stadium matters

Hmm, reading between (and slightly behind) the lines, I would say that the club are trying to strongarm Kassam into selling up, on the basis that he can't develop the land (thanks to the community asset thing) and so the service charge is all he'll ever get. Once you get the service charge set by ar...

Re: Chedsterfield

Basically (a). It seems like this young lady was acting out the same scenario night after night in the hope of achieving her aim: (to quote one of her texts, sent after the act on the night) "When I win, I win big" No-one comes out of this covered in glory. But I do think Evans has been ha...

Re: Chedsterfield

Two witnesses, one a few days before, and one a few days after, described the exact same scenario. Judge allowed special dispensation to take previous behaviour of the complainant into account, because he felt that in this case the jury needed to know about the repeat behaviour. Like you say, the gu...

Re: Bolton v OXFORD

Cracking result today - I know they've fallen on hard times recently, but they must still be one of the 'big' clubs, especially in terms of League One, so to go to their place and win convincingly is a really strong indicator that after the shaky start, this is going to be a solid season. They were ...

Re: NEW SIGNINGS

Very excited - check out this video of goals from last season. Looks like he has all the tools, scores with his head, poaching in the box, beating the last man and then shooting round the keeper, and even takes penalties.

Dundee fans are absolutely gutted to have lost him

Re: O'Dowda

We should have offered him an improved deal as soon as we were promoted. There was always a risk he would be tempted away. Good luck to him - as Dr Bob says, having a reputation for bringing youth players through, giving them a proper chance so that they can leave and have a good career will make ou...
