Re:

I'm unconvinced that makes much difference. Err ?? Actually I think it does. Love, him or hate him Duffer has been a penalty taker supreme to date. How many Oxford players have scored 8 consecutive pens? No idea, but how about this… How many sides have ever had this many penalties awarded in their ...

Re: A cynic says.....

Was it really any surprise to see an Australia v England final? Which is going to generate more money? a 3 match final between Australia and New Zealand or Australia and England? Does anybody believe that the Aussies wouldn't have lost on Friday unless they had to? That's very cynical A-Ro. I'm not...

Everyone did look more comfortable in a 4-4-2. I thought Foster was very good, the best thing you could say is that he's similar to Pettefer in style and didn't give ball away. My concern would be that a midfield of Anaclet, Pettefer, Foster and Rose is, to say the least, on the small side. Hargreav...

Re:

Let's hope it is a turning point for the team as well, surely they can't be that bad again? And for the management, I think before Monday the performances hadn't been as catastrophic, Smith said before that he &quotcould have made a case for winning 6 out of the 8 league games&quot. It may ...

Re:

Johnson? Brevett? Slabber? For much of the season Anaclet's been a liability. Day has moments, but is he what we want/need? Gilchrist is painfully slow, his distribution is awful and his inability to mark at setpieces is contributing to the problems - the absence of Wilmott really highlights that. ...

Re:

Name one signing since last March who has met expectations. I can go with Pettefer being a plus. All the others are negatives for me. Hatswell outclassed Gilchrist in spirit, leadership and example tohis team last night. I am now at the stage where I am praying that we loan Powelly back from Didcot...

Re:

I don't agree that changing the formation won't help Isaac. Sure it won't be a magical transformation, but if it suits the players better, and the opposition don't find it so easy to stop our &quotsystem&quot, then the difference could be important. It is only 1 of several factors that need...

Re:

I'm at a loss to know how you can't place the blame on the managment though. It's their squad and the players they have brought here, their system, their motivation, their training. I'd take the &quotit takes time to develop a squad&quot line if: (a) there were any signs of improvement inth...

I reckon Gravesend away was a marginally worse performance than that, as I don't remember creating any chances in that game. It was Ashton who jumped over the ball rather than clearing it for the Duffy chance, it's good to see that he hasn't eradicated the need to present the opposition with at leas...

Re:

well, if you're talking errors... The Boro away game was 4-1, and it wasn't live on the box, although it was one of about four games that they kept visiting for updates. The other one missing from the list is the 0-2 at Marlow (can't think how that one escaped my mind). I also knew about the other ...

Re:

I'll attempt to reply to both to avoid confusion. As for Patterson, from what I remember from his last turn in charge, I saw a dire 1-1 away at Bury (where the team only tried to attack when 1-0 down) and a 1-0 slightly fortuitous penalty win over Rovers. I think there was another draw in there some...

Re:

Someone challengedmy view a few weeks ago about how, when the going gets tough some players seek the comfort of the physio's room tostay out of the heat. Considerably the length of Burgess's absence with a 'virus' anyone want to challenge my theory now? I dunno DLT, not being party to Burgess's med...

Oh and my solutions. Get the injured players fit again (far easier said than done obviously) since we clearly haven't got the squad to cover 3-4 injuries. Possibly go to 4-4-2, since during periods of lack of confidence it probably benefits the team to go back to the formation they've probably playe...

Re:

I think the solution is 2 fold. Firstly, change the system to 4-4-2 and bring in a natural left winger. Secondly, bring Patterson to work alongside the first team as a coach or Assistant Manager, as his motivation and man management are clearly light years ahead of Jim's. Really GY? What on earth m...

As far as I can see very few of the older players are injured at the moment. Only Santos, it's the younger blokes who are dropping like flies - Day, Wilmott (well, he's not that old!), Anaclet, Basham, Burgess and now I see, disastrously, Pettefer (although this probably explains why Smith took him ...
