Wimbledone
Some belated reflections on Saturday's game, as no-one else has yet: We started brightly, playing the ball confidently out of defence (as we had against Charlton, the only other game I've managed to get to). However, whereas against the Addicks we remained playing attractive football throughout, her...
Re: Cambridge
If they have to allow UK residents access to streaming again, they should at least make sure they’re paying the same price as a match ticket rather than watching at a discount. Can you actually think of any event where it costs the same to stream it as to attend it? I won't tell you how much I spen...
Re: Cambridge
Well it it was very frustrating for me NOT being able to watch a match for the first time in over a year. I was always very much in favour of the Saturday afternoon TV blackout before, but now that kick-offs are so spread out anyway, and plenty of people still don't think it's a very sensible idea ...

Re: Euro 2020+1
It's coming home! We thrashed Denmark with an own goal and a missed (dodgy) penalty. Actually I thought we played very well for much of the match, but there were two worrying spells, in either half of normal time, when we got very nervous, stopped doing the basics and allowed Denmark to get on top. ...

Re: “We need to act like a Championship club…”
I'm more concerned that Elliott Moore is entering the last year of his contract. You can't reap the benefits of player development if you let them run their contracts down. And he was (on balance) the better of the two central defenders last year imo. Instead we've given John Mousinho a new deal! S...

Re: “We need to act like a Championship club…”
What KE said, basically. A large part of our recent success (and it has been success, when taken in the context of the last 20 years) has been based on getting very good prospects to sign for Us, assuring them we will not stand in the way of their career development. We have always sold our best pla...

Euro 2020+1
Might as well talk about some football! I can't believe how carried away everyone is getting by England beating a reasonable but not great Germany side. I've heard it described as historic, and generation-defining. Even one of the players in a post-match interview said they were glad to be part of m...

Re: New signings
I think it was the match at Northampton that Williams got sent off in, which completed Wilder's miraculous turnaround and saved them from relegation to the Conference, while ending Waddock's miserable managerial reign for Us.

New signings
So Ryan Williams is the first new name through the door (not counting keeping hold of McGuane). I liked him when he was with us before, but haven't been overly impressed when he's played against us in more recent times - I expected him to trouble us more than he did. As a winger, he's no Brandon Bar...

Re: Season Over?
Bigger picture - I never expected us to still be in with a shout of promotion come mid-May. In November I was happy to settle for avoiding relegation! Two successive L1 play-off campaigns is a very decent return, given where our club was little over a decade ago. The fact that we have (almost) ridde...

Re: Season Over?
Even yesterday morning I had no expectation at all of reaching the play-offs. It was only as half-time neared, and I realised it would need a two-goal swing in either game to deprive Us, that the excitement and nerves kicked in. Well done to KR and the players. And what a great performance to cap it...

Re: Plymouth Hoe but we’re not weeds
They're just teasing us now! I have a horrible feeling that other teams will slip up but we'll fail to capitalise. I very much hope to be proved wrong. All we can do is win our games and see what transpires...

Re: Handed it to them
As I said on the other thread, I think the handball was instinctive, so I don't blame Henry too much. But yes, no complaints over the punishment. Does anyone remember a game at the Manor late 80s/early 90s (I think against Charlton), when an opposition player tried to save a goal with his hands at t...

Re: Season Over?
Well the fat lady is clearing her throat now. Still not completely impossible, but too many teams are more handily placed than Us I think. But what might have been! When Ruffels scored I really started to believe. And then it all went wrong. I can't say I blame James Henry - his handball looked poin...
