Just spoken with my boss, who is a Notts fan. The names he has heard are Peter Taylor, Brian Laws and (current Notts youth team coach, but outsider for the top job) Michael Thomas. Even before those names were mentioned, his position would have been to stick with Ince for now, as he does not think t...

I know it does not seem to factor into many managers' thinking, but given Notts' recent managerial turnover (even since the current owners took over), I cannot imagine his relationship with the Notts owner would be as stable and productive as he has currently with Oxford and KT. Let alone everything...

Re:

True, but does commonsense come into it anywhere at all? Of course it does. I consider myself as having plenty of commonsense and I thought it was a rash tackle. I meant with regards to refereeing performances &amp those that are responsible for the laws of the game &amp the guidelines that...

Re:

The rules this season use the phrase &quotexcessive force&quot. It can clearly be argued that the way he dived in when the ball was in that position shows excessive force. How very very subjective. Easy get out clause to justify poor refereeing decisions. Ball to hand or hand to ball? The c...

Multiple viewings by multiple viewers and still no definitive agreement. Almost makes me think I should give up criticising officials.

Re:

Well, eat my words. Doing my best to freeze-frame the BBC clip to see if Craddock was offside for the third goal, it looks to me he timed his run to absolute perfection. Not that it matters, of course. Also, the clip gave me a better view of Parks' 'tackle' on Beano for his second yellow. What the ...

I thought Craddock was offside for the last goal. If he was, it merely adds to a long litany of bad decisions by incompetent officials yesterday (apart from the two red cards). Whilst Moore's card was one of those things, the other - plus all the yellows - were for me largely the consequence of the ...

I always had a suspicion those who said there was little difference between Divisions V and IV were talking rubbish. There may be little difference between the quality at the top of Division V and the bottom of IV, but we do not want to be down there. At the level where we are now - and especially a...

Re: Wilder's the problem

He should go asap. as far as I'm concered. Some people have such short memories. Before Wilder, we had 12 different managers (twelve!) in ten years. We changed manager whenever things started going wrong, and this caused us to slide down the leagues, and out of the league, and finally languishing i...

My concern - as others have noted - is left back. I thought Tonkin was OK on Saturday, but he has not been that reliable and, given the nature of his recent yellow cards, compensates for a lack of pace by blocking off faster players. I feel very sorry for Kinni - and not only is Clist very reliable ...

Re:

Good report from Slappy. I would add, for anyone interested, that I parked my bike in the car park behind the main stand and offices. After the game there was a very large crowd of Vale fans next to the offices shouting abuse at the board and calling for them to resign, in various forms of colourfu...

The letter of the law, it appears, can be read so as to provide justification for what the ref did. The spirit of the game, however, says there is a huge difference between what that player did here and (presumably what was intended), a player attacking a spectator off the pitch. One of the problems...
